It's a proper Thai street food restaurant, exactly taste food like you are in Thailand. Amazing. And prices not a big, very highly recommended. Also service is amazing too. Simply, we must love this restaurant;-) It's been here many times and what I can say...... always is amazing service, absolutely great taste of food, best Thai restaurant in UK!!! Just want say again, this is great and best Thai restaurant in UK. Update my review .... sadly but truly putting only two star from 5 . Yes, sadly but after my last three visits seeing this restaurant getting worse and worse. Two weeks ago I come and order special winter offers... this king prawn, what a different meal come (((( nothing like a picture, just 5 king prawn in hot lemon water (((( it's looks like most expensive prawn lemon tea for £18, it's really terrible. Not any vegetable, not any herb's just hot lemon water. Last Monday I try another,, special winter offers,, this good looking isan sausage in picture of menu.....taste not bad but portions is looks like have half of Frankfurt sausage...for £11(((( starter grilled pork neck.... it's dry like be two weeks in sun. And my favourite som tam? Isn't nice. And no draught beer cos saying have busy week. So, try today again, lucky have last draught beer cos not have again ( not understand your manager, it's easy to keep some more barrels than not have, it's have quite long time expire date) food isn't bad but not extra good taste like months ago, burning desert roti((((( ...I probably understand, we are now so busy looking someone who write something true and we don't like it then give ban this person, well done ((( yes, to me too cos i write true about whywe have menu in Chinese language? And I say is really disrespectful for others, non Chinese or English nationality customers. This Chinese here probably speak very well English cos if come here, that need speek English. Yes, this is really disrespectful for another customers but looks like we don't care about this true and just give ban to person who said this. Anyway, sadly this food is really getting down and service too, for your service charge we can be more friendly to everyone not just to Chinese. I just read your answer...... omg, do you really think this Chinese student come to UK and don't speak English?🤣🤣🤣 Really? 🤣🤣🤣 Again it's a disrespectful to another non Chinese or English nationality.... what about Indians.... it's lots of your customers now....so, please don't telling me bull..sh.. it's. Put your face out from Chinese a s s and act like a proper business person. And what is important, your restaurant services and food taste getting down! That just wake up. Just update again and put 5 star's for everything, food, services, atmosphere. This stuff here working hard and getting anything now better, food was,, aroy mak mak maaaaaaaak again, services too. And I think this stuff isn't be that stupid like this owner or ,, big,, managers who banned me on true comment in Facebook. Again, highly recommended for proper Thai food with amazing Thai...
Read moreWe were excited to see a new Thai restaurant on Ecclesall Road and decided to try a takeaway from Zaap Thai on Friday night. Having paid over £60 (!!) for a takeaway for 3 people - 2 starters, 3 mains and 3 sides of rice, we were disappointed to see such small and unimaginative portions and presentation.
We also received more rice than we ordered - perhaps to bulk out the expensive takeaway order?! 😳
The fish cakes (very small and very few of them!) and spring rolls were suspiciously uniformly-shaped…
Perhaps the most disappointing dish was the ‘Khow Moo Krob Jae Ban’ - crispy belly pork and rice with special Zaap Sauce. This was not crispy (which is slightly understandable as it was a takeaway), but it also looked like a small portion of leftovers! £11.25 for a few bits of meat and a scoop of rice - not good!
I also decided to treat myself and try a watermelon bubble tea, as I have always wanted to try an authentic bubble tea. On the menu, it was stated that this was served with ‘Tapioca Pearls’, which I was excited to try! To my disappointment, the bubble tea was full of ice (which was quickly watering the drink down) and NO Tapioca Pearls! So I had paid £4.50 for something that wasn’t anything more special than a cup of squash! Also, the straw served with this should have been a sharp, wide plastic straw to pierce the plastic film and suck the ‘pearls’ up - sadly this was a paper straw, which was no good for piercing the film, and had there been any pearls in the drink, they wouldn’t have gone up the straw anyway!
All in all, we felt a bit deflated at what was supposed to be an exciting, special new takeaway, but turned out to be a bit boring, disappointing and overpriced.
We want to give this restaurant another go, but will eat in this time to see if the portions are...
Read moreZap Thai is currently our go-to place for dinner in Sheffield. We love absolutely everything about it. It feels like you are in a street market smack dab in Bangkok (or at least what I think it would be like- it’s on the list of travel destinations!).
The food is authentic and mouth-wateringly delicious. It is hands down the best Thai food that I’ve ever had the delight of eating.
The music is loud, and the decor makes it seem like a magical place. The chilli they use tickles the back of your throat and there are tuk-tuks throughout the restaurant that you can sit and dine in adding to the vibe.
Zaap always has a packed house, yet there is still room for you when you arrive. It’s quite impressive actually (they don’t take reservations).
Allergies are asked when you arrive and they have a whole booklet breaking down each menu item and its allergens. From dim sum to curry, bar buns to noodle dishes, tarm sung to creamy coconut soup they have it all. Over 80 different options for food on their menu.
My suggestion for your next visit; Start off with the Sa La Pao Moo Daeng (Steamed bun filled with roasted red pork), and an order of Edamame for the table to share. Then for your meal the classic; Pad Thai Bo Ran.
Trevor’s suggestion; Gai Tod Prik Gang for your main (Deep-fried crispy chicken with a spicy red curry sauce) and finish off with dessert; Pancake (Custard filled green pandan pancake served with vanilla ice cream).
They also have an array of cocktails and bubble teas, don’t pass those by! Give the Thaistar Martini a try- my personal fave.
All in all, love everything about it. Try Zaap, you’ll be disappointed...
