Was very disappointed today. I ordered a soup with cheese toastie, the food was good and the cheese toastie was not enough so I ordered an additional one. The soup and toastie togeather are £10, the soup on its own was £6.50. I only caught site of the card machine briefly as I paid and noticed it was £6 for the additional toastie.
After sitting down and thinking about it I questioned a member of staff to check the price was right and was told it was correct. I commented that £6 was steep for an additional toastie. After more consideration I thought this was really a bit unfair so spoke to the owner before leaving. I questioned why my first toastie was £3.50 yet the second one was £6. I was told that it was subsidised by the soup to which I replied, well it is an additional one to accompany my soup, I had not ordered it on its own and said that I thought it was not very fair or customer freindly. I was told "you can have your £2.50 back, but don't order an extra cheese toastie again, I can't stand here all day making sandwiches for £3.50 each".
In my humble opinion this is poor customer service and unfair pricing. For example, if you go up to S17 Cafe up the road in Bradway they will serve an extra 1/2 a cheese toastie or additional one for the same extra price as the first one.
I think I will drive the extra mile in future to enjoy better customer service elsewhere without leaving and feeling ripped off. I understand that businesses have a profit to make but fair pricing is an important element in any business to keep...
Read moreI meet up there with 2 other friends when l can. It's a very friendly cafe The owner and staff are friendly and helpful. It's not a large cafe but is welcoming. There are 2 small outdoor tables. I love the soup menu there 8/10 varieties to choose from, all homemade you can have with just bit of bread or add on small bowl of mixed seeds, small cream cheese and like small melba toasts. They have a Corn bread. Also Derbyshire Oat Cakes with choice of 3 fillings. Lovely homemade quiches with a good selection of mixed salad type items etc. Also handy to takeaway, Sandwiches and more . Homemade brownies, custard tart tray baked, scones and a good selection of others. They also sell preserves and chutneys, a good selection of herbal teas and bottled drinks, small gifts and at present Christmassy gifts. A lovely selection of homemade cards for all occasions made by a local lady not expensive at all. A little noisy sometimes but that's people enjoying themselves having a...
Read moreReally enjoy going here and the food and staff are great. Nice atmosphere too. Been put off lately by the sign saying no prams inside and that prams should be left outside. I understand the spacial reasons for this but, realistically, people aren't going to leave prams outside in poor weather - especially heavy rain. It is easy to interpret such a sign as customers with young children not being welcome or appreciated. This is how I have interpreted it so have decided to go elsewhere and know a few parents who have said similar. But I still give it a strong rating as, until that point, I rated it highly, regularly went and enjoyed both the food...
