Really disappointing. After all the good reviews, I was expecting this place to be something special. Not only was it not special, I feel it fell well below the bar of 'average' too.
On arrival the greeting was warm and we were shown to our table. We made our choices and when the waitress came over she wanted our food order. We hadn't yet placed a drinks order and had to do this after having ordered food.
The meals were slow to arrive. What I mean is not that they took a long time to cook, but rather that the meals arrived to the table over a 5-10 minute period. This made for an uncomfortable/awkward wait whilst everyone received their meals. As the meals arrived, it became apparent that something is going wrong somewhere. One meal arrived completely incorrect, when challenged we were told that's what our order was but they would change the meal (there were 8 people at the table and the order was heard by all). Two further meals arrived with incorrect sides, one we sent back to change and one we just accepted. Finally, after most of the meal had been received we realised we were also completely missing a portion of halloumi cheese.
Throughout the meal, the waitresses did not return to the table to offer any further drinks, despite most glasses being empty. The restaurant was only half empty so it was disappointing to have such inattentive staff.
The meal itself was distinctly average. I had the mixed kebabs. There wasn't a great deal of meat on the plate. The chicken was passable, but the lamb was extremely tough and dry. Despite this, the marinade on the meats was pleasant.
When we received our bill we were surprised to see there was an extra side on there. We challenged this as we never ordered it and the staff insisted that we did. What we'd ordered was Halloumi Cheese but they'd sent a tomatoey soup. It became apparent that our request for the Halloumi Cheese that we had to make mid way through the meal was treated as a new order rather than a correction of their error. It took some arguing for us to get the additional dish that we hadn't even ordered taken off the bill.
This review is long winded, but I think it's important to justify the poor rating fully. As it stands I've paid half as much for food twice as good, and regrettably I've had better service at Nandos. I really hope they can turn it around here as there is something special about this cuisine and this place could be a real gem with more care and...
Read moreSo basically, we ordered three meals - one dessert, kunefe and mixed grill and Chicken Shawarma through deliveroo .I've had Chicken Shawarma many times before from Turkish and Lebanese restaurants, but this was the first time I encountered such a terrible one. It wasn't properly cooked and only had two pieces of chicken. The lack of basic vegetables made it feel more like a wrap, devoid of spices or sauce. It was sticky and sour. The mixed grill wasn't cooked well, and the chips were soggy and it costs like 12.28 pound and it was not worth for the money and the quality and texture was not good. I could only eat the kunefe dessert and bin the rest . Overall, it was a terrible experience, so I contacted them to complain. It was a total shame, and I won't be ordering from...
Read moreRowsha is a small, local Lebanese restaurant, comfortable and warm. Everything we had was freshly cooked. The six of us shared vegetarian meza dishes: effectively tapas. Flat bread, beautiful smokey aubergine dip, gorgeous houmous, lentil stew, tabouleh salad, spinach pastry parcels, stuffed vine leaves, and fresh mint tea. Baklava for pud ...My main concern is that dietary needs /allergens are not addressed on the menu or understood by the staff. I don't eat dairy, and had to keep asking specifically about ingredients, which was not good. Still, it was easy to eat vegan and this is...
