The Birley Hotel — Restaurant in Sheffield

Sorry to give one star for my local but we’ve just gone for a family meal here. We’ve not eaten here for many years as the food was very poor. After a recent refurbishment we decided to give it a go, 4 adults 1 child (6). Not many people eating but we thought we’d give it a try, never again! The food took over 30 minutes, would have been longer if I’d not asked where it was (no one else was eating but us, so they really weren’t busy). It eventually turned delivered by the barman I’d asked to check. My mega mixed grill was warm, the sausages were burnt as was the gammon, onion rings nearly cold, my sons meal was the same, the only hot meal was 2 sizzlers which I’m guessing is there signature meal. A chain pub in the Frecheville/Birley area of Sheffield theres an uninviting appearance at times outside with cars park on the grass verge or obstructing the public footpath and obstructing the entrance to to pub, where smokers congregating outside the entrance doors. Inside it had a refurbishment which for some reason reduced the amount of male/ female toilets to one of each, Its very very noisy with sports on several TVs in the ( I use this term loosely) lounge/restaurant room and juke box blasting out in the other room. The food has improved and they seem to do quite a few takeouts, still would i go there for a meal or take my Mum for a mothers day meal probably not there are other better pubs for food and a more quiter pleasant eating environment. What a fantastic night we had for the Birley Golf Society ⛳️ presentation night on 24/02/2024.

As the captain for 2023 I'd personally like to thank the whole staff on behalf of the Golf Society. They couldn't do enough for us and worked really hard to keep the drinks flowing. They were all brilliant 👏

I'd like to give a special mention to Brad, the resident DJ, who did 2 fantastic sets singing solo. He was brilliant singing an array of songs from all eras past and present, and then finished the night playing some cracking music. A massive well done 👏
