We are trying loads of new places this yeah and finally tried Bradfield Plough. We booked online as there was 8 of us but this probably wasn't necessary at 4pm on a Friday but it was getting busier when we left around 7pm. We booked the barn and this had a restaurant feel but as we were the only ones in it the atmosphere was pretty quiet. The lounge area still looks lovely and a nice place to stay with a bit more of a buzz about it. The menu isn't massive but had enough choice that everyone could find what they wanted and I think this also contributed to the fact that every meal was great. The Steak & Ale pie was probably the best of our picks but the Fish & Chips and Lasagne were also top drawer. The desserts were all fantastic as well. The staff were all very friendly. Not just polite friendly - genuinely friendly and you could have a laugh with them and they seemed to care. We also felt the pricing was very reasonable considering how nice it is and the quality of the food. The other great things about it is the options of local ales and the fact it's got a pretty big beer garden to chill out in. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Went Sunday 27 March on the spur of the moment for Sunday Carvery. Despite it being fully booked for Mothers Day the friendly helpful staff were happy for us to sit in the beer garden with our carvery. It was an excellent fresh well prepared meal. Piping hot and tasty. So Saturday 2 April we decided after our country walk to visit again for a late pub lunch. Again met be excellent pleasant helpful and enthusiastic young staff. Shown to a clean table in a great spot by the log fire. Drinks are amazing coming mainly from a very local brewery alongside the usual corporate fare. The craft beers excel. The menu is fresh and not cluttered. We chose a chicken burger with "mucky pig" - bbq cheesey chips - and a meat and potato pie with cheesey chips and mushy peas. All fresh, well cooked nicely prepared and cleanly presented. Service was good. Food was good. Atmosphere was good. Ambience was good. The best pie and chips I have had so far. Very happy with the whole experience. Will be back.

Been quite a few times in the past, and quite a few times on boxing day. But this year was different, we booked in advance like we always do as there are normally carols on in the pub, but this year due to restrictions they were cancelled (which was not a problem at all). We sat at our table and ordered our food, my other half’s main was wrong, which they did offer to change and did apologise for, but having 2 kids as well, and trying to get everyone eating at the same time, we said no it was fine. Even though we highlighted the problem, they still charged us full price for the wrong main meal. It may seam petty, but it does make a difference. Really disappointed as we love the location of this pub and have never had a problem before

Booked meal for 4 adults 6.30pm Saturday. Arrived at 5pm for a drink before eating. There was one bar staff pouring drinks for the diners and also for the large group of drinkers watching the football match. There was a dog roaming around the dining tables.

We asked for sweet rose wine and was served a dry Pinot instead. The beer was excellent.

Been to this pub many times but it’s under new management and calls itself a bistro now. It’s hard to tell what is different from the old Plough, the menu didn’t seem any different. It’s probably a work in progress.

Ordered 2 quiche meals , the quiche was cold, the salad was very unappetising and the chips were over cooked. One of our party ate it because she was hungry but the other left virtually all of the meal.

Her husband, recovering from a stroke has difficulty using a knife to cut food up, he asked for chicken tikka masala and rice - NO RICE AVAILABLE - decided on chilli con carne with rice - NO RICE AVAILABLE . Come on, rice is a a staple food and to not have it available on a Saturday evening is not good enough.

He doesn’t eat chips so chose the food he thought he would be most likely to be able to manage , Toad in the Hole with mashed potatoes and veg. It was tasteless, the veg was too hard for him to cut through and the mash had a hidden stash of chips hidden underneath. No idea why. He left most of the meal.

I opted for pie, chips and mushy peas. Big portion but The pie was tepid, the chips tasteless and the mushy peas were dry. A small jug of gravy was provided but the meal was already awash with gravy. Far too much liquid on the plate. I left almost all of the meal.

Out of 4 meals only one had been eaten. We told the waitress of our issues, she relayed it to the kitchen staff but no one was interested, the staff virtually shrugged their shoulders.

Money spends anywhere. We regularly eat at the pubs and restaurants in Loxley and Bradfield. This was the worst experience ever. We will give our custom to their...

It’s a shame I have to give 2 stars because it was a special birthday gathering. On arrival we weren’t allowed in before 4 (the reservation was 4-6) because lots of “walkers” had “walked” in so there was no room at the bar so we all had to wait in the car until bang on 4pm. Whilst in the designated room our drinks order were taken and that was fine. The food was ok and the portion size was ok. I’d say typical pub food (frozen veg, frozen puddings etc) Some of the staff were ok but some staff seemed really annoyed at us being there. One member of staff., maybe the manager, asked my mum to move her chair as they couldn’t get passed. As we were already at the limit (there is an inch between the the carpet and the wooden floor which would have made the table uneven and then a wall) she exclaimed, quite rudely, that they don’t sit people how we were sat but in actual fact that is how the tables were when we were seated and we had to arrange ourselves to ensure waitresses could get by. She was also rude to other members of staff. The way she asked my mum was rude, and a bit of eye rolling. We were told at 5.50, as I received my drink, that we had 10 minutes to finish our drinks for their next guests however there were nowhere for us to go but a few at the bar but actually not really. We moved from the room and settled the bill whilst very quickly “downing” our drinks. The same rude member of staff came and said that she would be in and out and that we couldn’t stay in the bar. We appreciate the current circumstances however that member of staff was just rude and her manner wasn’t acceptable especially to paying guests on someone’s special birthday. I definitely will not be returning. Some of the guests had come from far down south to enjoy the celebrations too. It’s very much a local pub for...

There were 7 of us who went for dinner today, had reserved a table for 12pm. We waited a while for someone to take our order(used to do this at the bar) but eventually someone came. We all had burgers, 1 was vegetarian(that was literally the only vege option on the menu)and also one kids meal. We had to go and ask about Gluten free food as there was nothing on the menu to suggest they had anything. We were told to look for the GF symbols on the menu but it transpired they had forgot to print these on. All bar one came out together, i had to wait 5 minutes for mine while everyone else ate as they had to wait for chips. Surely you should send a tables order all out together? Anyway, what can i say about the food other than rank. The beef burgers were bland and overcooked and dry, burgers should be nice and juicy, these were like sawdust with no taste. My husbands vege burger, well......my husband will eat anything and whilst he ate most of it because he was starving he said it actually physically gave him stomach ache. It looked like some sort of beetroot burger.there were 2 which my husband described as eating the sole of a rubber boot. To top that off they had added a slice of beetroot and the smothered it in tomato sauce??!!! He asked for no chips but the plate came with chips on. We all left some of the food. We have been to The Plough before and had sandwiches and Jacket potatoes which were nice, no such Jackets on the menu now and we will certainly...
