The Cow and Calf — Restaurant in Sheffield

Mediocre food. Awful service. Was not made to feel welcome on my first (and only) visit to the Cow and Calf. Asked to order food at the bar and was told the waitress would come and take the order. Ten minutes later she told us we could order food but reserved tables would need to be served first so there would be a wait. When I asked how long she said about half an hour but wasn't really sure! Wanted steak n kidney pud but there was apparently none left so I tried pork and cider pie - none left either so went for steak and ale pie, other half ordered fisherman's pie. When the food finally turned up the pastry on my pie was soggy (even the crust lid) and there was no sign of any salmon or smoked haddock in the fish pie despite them being listed on the menu... Staff was fantastic, they have a lovely out door garden with lovely flowers 💐 sun trap. Food was like my nans home cooking 😋 I'm not keen on mash and passed some on b4 I tried it. Best mash I've ever had. Each meals comes with a gravy boat which is perfect for me.. gravy is the one. Mint sauce and other condiments come in ramekins 👌 Larger was one of the best I've ever tasted. I'm a pint carling chick normally. Was teddy's or toddys I don't know. It's strong though.. I left wavy 🤣 after 4 pints. There was 10 of us and not 1 mistake was made. Very poor customer service. Purchased two soft drinks which were flat with no fizz. On informing the manager that the drinks were flat and not fizzy she went on to explain that this is the way the soft drinks are meant to be. On stating that when we were served it is not explained you're not getting a Pepsi or Coke, basically you are being mis sold a product. She made it clear that this was not her problem. All this whilst she is sat at a table drinking a beer and clearly not managing.

Establishment also wasn't able to serve food due to the kitchens being broken and the inside of the pub smells like it is damp and possibly mold.
