We came for a wake for my nan we had already pre booked a whole area out. The staff were rude a disrespectful. They then told us at 5 pm that we had to remove ourselves from the area after we had been there for 2 hours as they’d booked a dart tournament in. We then proceeded to say that they had not told us this upon booking as if they had we would not have booked this are we then got told “these aren’t the rules I’ve just been told to come tell you” the man “Reece” well should I say boy was very rude the way he spoke to us bare in mind we was a family wake so no respect was given. Not only did this happen I then when to the bar later on after we had removed our selves from the “double booked area” and got myself a drink where the boy proceeded to interrupt me when I was giving my order and say” children have to be out by half 8”. At this point it was only half 7. I then proceeded to say “there not my children tell them yourself”. I understand this may have been a rude reaction but I was grieving and they had already ruined the wake by throwing us out and putting us in an area with random people and really loud TVs. If you can not accompany people for wakes and be respectful including bar staff do not take them on. I am furious none the least and I will never be returning to this disgrace of a place. Also after they had told us we had to move they then proceeded to throw the Buffett we had paid for away and never bothered to ask if we would like to keep any of it. I think there is no respect don’t bother booking...
Read moreWe were made to feel really welcome by the new managers Katie and Lee. Nice range of draught beers and other drinks to suit with friendly bar staff. The pub does not provide meals on site - I don't think it ever has? It's an old style pub with a warm atmosphere. Sky sports is available in all main rooms aswell as a large screen for those big matches. We had no problem chatting with the locals, they were great friendly people. There was a Singer on the Friday night that we were and she was knocking out Soul classics which were just amazing. The Carpark is best approached from Laverack St. and the entrance is dead opposite. It's ample but not massive. We arrived at 8pm and it was only half full. I think most people walk or taxi there tbh. Great venue, looking forward to returning...
Read moreVery rude staff. First time visit to the pub. Was 11.25 and we were being shouted at by a young bar maid because she wanted to go home. Was quickly trying to finish drinks - which she had just poured- while she was shouting and swearing at us from behind the bar, and talking to other staff about us. Other staff were obviously embarrassed by this and apologised to us as we left but never felt more unwelcome in a pub before. I recommend other pubs...
