The Blue Ball is one of those rare remaining independent traditional English pubs and I would venture to say the best in the area! Angela has done an amazing job at adding all those extra touches that make it consistently charming, beautiful and a place you want to spend time! The young Toby behind the bar always puts customer service first and the staff makes sure that the pub is always well kept (not a sticky table or floor in sight...as we've all experienced those pubs). The beer is some of the best around, the menu is simple but of excellent quality and fairly priced. The other owner (Angela's husband, the older Toby) will definitely give you a taste of a more traditional British style customer service and if you're in the right mood it can almost be amusing! My partner has been coming here for many many years and will happily attest that it is the best it's been under the...

Tasty slow cooked Duck legs, Red Cabbage, with creamy Dalphenes potatoes for a fair price, we enjoyed the food, but strangely when I was speaking with the man, possibly the Publican, who served us the food and also worked in the Kitchen complementing him on his tasty food he just walked away in the middle of my compliment as if not interested in a customers prase.

In five decades I have never had such a rude response complimenting a persons food.

The Woman behind the the Bar had a luke warm attitude toward us, but had a much warmer greeting to what appeared to be regular customers.

Not sure if I would return, though I visit this area often and thought I found a good lunch stop.

With a better staff attitude I would have given...

We decided to stop for a drink and a bite somewhere on our way back to Birmingham from Stansted airport. What an utterly unpleasant experience! The pub itself is beautiful and cosy and the garden oh! so alluring. However the lady behind the bar could not hide her contempt at having to serve these two customers who were not local and unashamedly non-white. I believe she's generally an unpleasant and troubled lady who makes an effort with the customers she likes or knows and was simply herself with us. I wonder what those defenses were really about! Unpleasant experience. Avoid if you...

Lovely lovely pub with simple yet delightful food! Staff were welcoming, and the customers there were all very friendly and kind as well... when we were deciding to go in or not in front of the place, one of the regular customer (I suppose) told us there is a nice beer garden at the back of the inn and we are so glad we went in. When there are nice customers, it just shows how good the place is, and this place really showed that :) We had a delightful time with happy tummy!

This is a real unspoilt gem which we only recently discovered after a walk across Grantchester meadows. The owners are really lovely and welcoming which is always appreciated. We sat out the back in what was a beautifully ornate beer garden decorated with all manner of gorgeous hanging baskets. It truly was a wonderful way to spend a few hours. Definitely somewhere well return back to for a much longer visit another time.

Stopped off for a quick drink while on my way cambridge. Lovely beer garden at the rear and a few tables and chairs at the front. Staff very friendly and helpful. A few real ales on tap and other good beers. Didn't have any food but lots of people were and it looked good. Dog friendly. Parking is a bit difficult as you park on the road outside, not sure if they was any other parking. Would definitely come back.
