Duke of Cornwall — Restaurant in South Hams

It was gone 2 p.m. and we needed lunch and a drink somewhere our dog would be welcome. We didn't know the area and were really lucky to find The Duke of Cornwall today. It was clean, the few customers and staff were very welcoming and food was available. The only downside was having to pay 70p to park for an hour in the car park just across the road. The wine was chilled and the omelette arrived while we sipped. For me, it was a little over-cooked, which I said when we paid later. With apologies, it was suggested I just mention this if I have it again, another time. The accompanying chips and peas were absolutely fine, as was every aspect of the service. Fantastic tradional local pub! Always made to feel extremely welcome and has very friendly locals / clientele. Always fun and a bit of banter in the bar. Beer garden, pool & darts also available. Monday night quiz is at 9pm and great fun, it’s free with give always and hosted by Dave the landlord.... always a laugh! Thursday curry night is always a great night, curry and a drink for only £6.50 (other food options also available).... it’s a must! The Professor's brother has just moved to the delightful town of Ivybridge, and we decided on a family get together at the Duke. We weren't disappointed by the Sunday roast or the steak pie on offer. Three meats to choose from with plenty of veg, roast potatoes, creamy potatoes and mashed potatoes. Making my mouth water writing this! Splendid choice of puds too. The politically correct 'spotted Richard' was tempting. Friendly and welcoming staff and live grand prix made this a very nice visit.
