The Imp or ā€œthe imperialā€ has new owners. The food is really good and so is the service, I recommend the burger its probably one of the best I’ve had in the last few months.. however the roast was also amazing. Updated 2025. This is still the best pub in Ivybridge. Nick and his team have a special place in my heart. I’ve celebrated and commiserated moments here and each time I’ve been made to feel welcome. This isn’t a pub but a part of the community I cannot thank you enough. When you walk in you’re often welcomed and the staff are polite and remember your order, the wait times are low. Perfect place to socialise with others and a good Beer garden to match. Big tv screen is also for the big games.

Now this place has changed and for the better, we popped in and the new landlord was very welcoming, restaurant was fully booked which is a very good sign, prices are good for both beer and food, landlord even asked us if we wanted another drink whilst we were sat down busy talking to new friends so we didn't have to get up, now this is what I call hospitality at it's best, you must pop in if you're in Ivybridge you won't be disappointed plus they have a beautiful beer garden at the back, 10 out of 10 from us

Wow! We couldn't fault the Inn now it is under new ownership. The setting is comfortable, easy going and cosy with its open fire. Great ales on tap and a wide selection of Gins! The food was second to none - just like home cooking. Generous portions and creative dishes. The Imperial offers great value for money and ticks all the boxes for a great local pub. Thanks Margaret and team for making us feel so welcome.

Food very good (takes time, but because fresh, so would just allow for that).

Particular staff member today not particularly friendly, but previous trips have been consistently warm in welcome, so can rite that off to a bad day for that person.

However, would advise being careful around disability and allergy issues.

Disability - asked for a straw (hoping & praying for an accessible one, not paper), but was told that they don't have any & demonstrably the staff member did not realise this was an accessibility issue.

Allergies - while they were good about 'please do not put peas on that meal due to allergy', they very kindly switched in some salad, again, the problem lay with drinks. Namely, a bitter lemon was ordered, but a light version substituted, which had both aspartame & another compound which the person in question is allergic to. Having already had a problem with the straw, we didn't like to complain again & swapped drinks among us.

All in all, great food, but do be aware you.may not be able to access straws & so be hyper-vigilant if you...

Went for the first time and it won't be the last. Met up with friends for some drinks and some pizzas and was pleasantly surprised. Great selection of beers, ciders, and other drinks. The pizzas were really nice and had tons of cheese (always great for pizza), the chips were really nice too. Great atmosphere, and a great sized pub garden, which bet is packed on a hot sunny day. There's parking out front for about 3 cars, otherwise you'll need to park in the main car park (pay and display) and walk. We were lucky to have got a space...
