Oh dear, Blues kitchen what has happened to you ?!? Having been a fan of the Blues kitchen when they started out at the Lord Rosebury, the roast dinners they serve now are unrecognisable from those early days. Having had a bad roast last time out at the Rosebury , I thought I'd give the crown point a go. Roast sirloin- something seriously not right with this, it was tough, sinuous, tatseless and had a sheen to it, the only thing it had going for it was that it wasn't overcooked as it was at the Rosebury. Roast potatoes were really awful, rock hard, no crisp to the skin. Red cabbage, literally just that, no aromatics or seasoning, same goes for the leeks and cabbage. There was such little puree on the plate that I couldn't taste it. The carrot wasn't done how they used to, in stock then finished in the oven with a glaze, just a boiled carrot. The Yorkshire looked impressive, and wasn't bad, but.you could tell it had been frozen. And to finish off the gravey was awful, a stock cube in boiling water would of had more flavour.
The pub is lovely, service was quick, although we didnt get asked if the meal was ok at any point. The love and attention to detail isnt there anymore and what made there roasts stand out from the rest has unfortunately been lost. I won't be returning or recommending my guests to go here for a roast in...
Read moreFirst time visiting for lunch on Saturday afternoon. Menu is a mix between British and American, not large choice, but I think it's easier that way and there's a bit for everyone's liking. I had wild mushroom stroganoff and my boyfriend had double patty burger (can have triple too). Stroganoff was a bit too spicy for my liking and smaller portion than expected, also it came with homemade hash browns, which I have never seen before. My boyfriend loved his burger, both meals cost £18 each, but if you are really hungry, go for a burger as you get much bigger portion. Atmosphere was nice, several different crooks to sit in, instead of one big space, also 2 log burners was very cosy too. Staff friendly and helpful. Also dog friendly, but there's a sign on the door warning of a house cat, so our dog struggled to settle as he was smelling it's sent and kept...
Read moreFirst time visiting today. Fancied a roast and Trowse is a stones throw from Norwich. Read a few of the reviews before going to see if it’s dog friendly but ended up calling to be sure. Definitely dog friendly. Roast was delicious and fairly priced in today’s terrible economy. Whilst not strictly on the menu, our dog Benji kindly got his own little roast dinner to bring home. Should add it as an option on the menu for like £5 or something.
Some reviews mention parking which I can understand but there’s a fair amount of road parking nearby and it’s not bad enough to put us off coming again. We just got lucky to get a spot in the car park which holds around 8/10 cars.
Easy 5/5 and we...
