The White Horse — Restaurant in South Norfolk

A large group of us came in today to order a few hot drinks each to takeaway, the man behind the bar was unfortunately quite rude to us through out. It felt as though we were a complete inconvenience to him, not one drink was given over nicely, he’d spill it as he was handing it over, I even had to ask for another cup as the first one had started to peel away it was so wet. We hadn’t finished ordering when he invited the couple behind to pay for their bill. He then loudly stated how it was nice they were going to pay a ‘proper bill’. From reading other reviews it seems we aren’t the only ones to have this experience with him. Although we only spent around £5 each there were a few of us so we must of spent around £25 on hot drinks. We won’t be returning which is a shame. We did all discuss how we’d like to try a meal there together in the near future (I would have booked for 15 of us) but first impressions go a long way & I’d rather go elsewhere that appreciates your custom no matter how much...

After a lovely walk in the Trowse area, my friend and I stopped at The White Horse pub for lunch. There was a good selection on the menu including an every day roast!! A good selection of starters and desserts as well. We actually only needed a light bite and my friend had a jacket potato with cheese and beans (£8) which also came with a salad garnish and was cooked just right. I had the chicken salad with lime and coriander dressing (£9) which was really tasty and a good sized portion. The pub is traditional and atmospheric with plenty of seating for meals or just a drink. There is an outside seating area where we sat as it was a really hot day. The car park is a good size with plenty of parking. The also have a large function room available for hire for parties or social gatherings. The staff were friendly and service was really good, we didn't have to wait long for our food. A good place to go for a meal or drink if you want to escape from the busyness...

17 may 2023. 1800. walked in and picked up two menus from the bar, the waitress ( pony tail ,dark hair) walked passed us three times without speaking, looked at us twice from behind the bar and decided to leave us sitting there in an almost empty pub, we walked out after 25 minutes.

Lack of basic customer service was staggering, apparently the food is nice and good value .

(edited to reflect owners response. the person i was with had been at least 6 times in the last year and had table service at all times, you must realise thats what you do, or maybe you dont.)

I won't be coming back , my first attempt at food in the evening a few weeks earlier was another failed attempt, " no food tonight, no staff".

Its too much like hard...
