Pokhara Delight Henley-On-Thames — Restaurant in South Oxfordshire

Well - straight out - what a fabulous restaurant! A recently opened Nepalese / Indian restaurant, with a seriously fabulous menu. I managed to visit twice during Henley Royal Regatta week - both times I had quite different main menu items, and both times I was really impressed with the food. Having been in an email discussion, they even opened the restaurant for us (we were a big crowd) on the Monday night before the regatta, as normaly they are closed on Mondays. We had a good selection of side dishes and breads on both nights too - the simple dishes, like tarka dall and brinjal curry were the best I've ever had. The keema naan especially, was succulent inside and perfectly crisp outside.

Best of, the staff were very welcomingl. On both occasions, the chef came out to talk with us to make sure the food was exactly to our liking, and the front-of-house team looked after us superbly.

Update: We came back again during the 2025 Regatta (of couse we did!) I emailed in advance, just to make sure the restaurant would be open on the Monday night, and as a last minute thought, I asked if the infamous carrot pickle that used to be served in Henley's long gone and fondly remebered previous Nepalese restaurant, "The Himalaya", could be replicated. Having completely forgotten about the email, I was utterly delighted that we were all treated to our own individual bowl of the pickle, on both nights we were there. The food is exquisite at the Pohara Delight, but the carrot pickle alone is to die for! Out of the blue, I was talking with a stranger only yesterday, and we were talking about the regatta, and he mentioned the restaurant and the utterly fabulous carrrot pickle - so my good deed for the...
