I don't like leaving negative reviews however me any my sisters went for a meal two weeks ago and everything was fine until we received our starters. The waiter said the kitchen has cooked your mains so they will have to come out with your starters. We said well no thank you as we are sat outside and they will go cold. The waiter then went to relay this to the kitchen and then returns saying it was tough they had made them so we would have to have them. We then refused and asked to speak to a manager. We finished our starters which were nice and then our main curse did come out appropriately, you could tell it had been sat under a hot plate however the food was still actually lovely. No manager came to see us or anyone at all. The food and service other than that was lovely and I approciate that there will be teething problems however it was a shame as this I can't imagine would ever be acceptable to anyone even when sat indoors and it just left a bad taste. This is a shame as my sister lives locally as well and I'm sure if a manager had come and seen us and rectified the situation we would have been...
Read moreWe were looking for a venue for our son's chirstening party and visited lots of pubs in the Preston area. Some didn't want to know and the rest wanted to charge around £120 to hire the venue plus £8 to £10 per head for the food. Then we tried the Sir Tom Finney pub which is (ironically) the closest pub to our house. The landlady & landlord were great and said that we could have non-exclusive use of their big room for free but they would set aside quite a large area of for us, put tablecloths on the tables, have a table for the christening cake, and let us come in and decorate it with balloons, banners, etc. As for the food, they suggested buying everybody a Sunday Carvery instead of bringing in a cold buffet. This was a much better option and only cost £4.50 per head. We also bought some catering cakes from them which were very good. There were quite a few cask ales available which were well kept. Everybody at the party enjoyed it, so I am very pleased to recommend it as both a christening venue and as a...
Read moreWe have been to the Sir Tom Finney pub numerous times and have always enjoyed the service, the drinks and the food but tonight we went on pie night and ordered two peppered chicken pies. When we cut into them there was no sauce, juice or moisture whatsoever. The pastry was burnt and so hard it made eating it difficult as the filling was so dry. I returned mine and was offered an alternative so I asked for a cheese and onion pie. This was slightly better but still had hard pastry and a dry filling. My wife persevered with the peppered chicken but it was difficult to get it down. I don’t usually write negative reviews but having numerous excellent visits to Tom Finneys I felt I had to mention it and we hope it was just a one off because we will definitely be going back as we have always found the staff very helpful and friendly and the food, very tasty. Let’s hope that next time we aren’t disappointed and the usual standard is maintained. Normally we would...
