I’ll start off with the positives of this cafe as it truly is a nice place but I think there’s genuine room for improvement. The staff are absolutely lovely and accommodating. The location is nice although parking can be difficult however this was no issue at all we found parking really easily and didn’t have to walk far. The food is home made and the effort that goes into making it is clear. Coffee is good. However that been said I have visited this cafe on 2 separate occasions now and have been super disappointed with the quality of food. Although it looks nice, the toast on the two occasions I’ve been in has been virtually bread, the eggs snotty and undercooked and the quality of the ingredients to me seem cheap. The cakes as well, are really poor quality , the brownie is almost a cake consistency and tasted off and I had the same experience previously with the cakes tasting off and poor quality. This place generally is nice however I do think there is genuine room for improvement on the food quality side, particularly considering the price point I can get nicer quality food from other cafes and pay the same or less. If I was returning again it would be for a coffee and nothing else but I’d hope these comments would be taken on board as I’d definitely consider coming back and you would certainly have a returning customer.
Thank you for responding. To clarify, my comments weren’t about where your ingredients come from but how they were served: the bread wasn’t toasted, the eggs were undercooked, and the rest of the ingredients in the full English, particularly the meat, tasted cheap and were inedible.
I’ve been fair in my review. I praised the staff, coffee and atmosphere, and even gave 5 stars in those areas. I also said I’d happily return if the food improved. That is constructive feedback, not an attack on a small business.
Customers pay good money and naturally expect food that reflects that. Especially in a cost of living crisis, when people are being more selective about eating out, diners deserve good quality food for the prices charged. That is the point of reviews, to give businesses a chance to adapt and improve, and to help other customers make informed choices.
If a self-employed electrician received poor reviews, it would be because they weren’t meeting customer standards, not because people were “picking on” them. Being independent/small business doesn’t exempt anyone from criticism , if anything, it makes listening and adapting even more important.
If you look at my other reviews, you’ll see I am very reluctant to leave a low rating. The fact I felt compelled to do so here should reflect how poor I found the food.
Finally, I do feel the tone of your reply was unprofessional. Signing off with a “peace out ✌️” emoji doesn’t reflect well on a business. Coupled with the defensiveness shown over what was actually a fair and balanced review, it leaves the wrong impression. Constructive criticism should be viewed as an opportunity to improve, not something to dismiss.
I genuinely hope you take this feedback on board, because the café has real potential. The staff and atmosphere are lovely, and with a few changes to the food, it could be the kind of place I’d recommend to others. At the moment, though, your defensive replies only risk putting off customers who, like me, actually want to see you do well. That being said, I’d probably retract my earlier comments about the staff being friendly, as it’s undermined by the way the owner chooses not to accept...
Read moreWe visited BRUNCH as a group of 10 and had an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, the staff gave us the warmest welcome — friendly, attentive, and super organized.
We had made a reservation with a deposit and even pre-ordered our meals in advance, which made everything so smooth. Despite a few special requests (changing bread for elderly guests and swapping chorizo for salmon in the Spanish eggs), the team handled everything perfectly. No delays, no confusion — just great service and spot-on delivery.
The food? Incredible. From the banging coffee to the beautifully plated dishes, every single bite was a hit across the board — kids, adults, and elderly guests all loved their meals. A special shoutout to the carrot cake — hands down the best we’ve ever had!
And the personal touches made the day even more special. The birthday girl in our group was surprised with a sparkler on her meal and again when the cake came out. Such a thoughtful gesture that made her day.
Thank you so much for a truly memorable brunch. We’ll...
Read moreCame for afternoon tea with my mom, I take her different places every week and this is the only one I'm giving a low rating to There wasn't anywhere to park near the cafe but we managed to find parking down the road on a church and walk but we didn't mind that was fine, We came in and sat at the table above the stairs but felt a bit closed in as a member of staff had to keep accessing the cupboard right behind me so I felt in the way tucking my chair in as much as I could to let her past so I couldn't relax, I needed the toilet and had to go round the back to the garden to get to it, usually with afternoon tea we have a choice of mini cakes and unlimited tea and coffee but here we had to pay if we wanted another coffee even though it was vile anyway and had to go to the counter to choose one slice of cake which tasted a bit stale, thankyou for the experience but we won't be...
