Update. All dressed up for Christmas, see new photos Traditional village pub, busy and friendly atmosphere. If you come here for food as you should, come hungry. Good choice on the menu. Large portions, tasty, properly cooked food, good choice, chunky chips. I could go on and on about how excellent the food is, but I also want to comment on the great service we had. Attentive and polite and above all quick. Well worth a visit.

Firstly the good things, the waitresses could not have been more pleasant and helpful! Food was good, without being exceptional, but was reasonably priced and to the quality that I would expect from a good local pub, which is what the Mary Rose is. Little mix up with the phone order , but nothing disastrous and the tables needed rearranging to suit our larger number, but overall a place that I would like to revisit!

Wonderfully cosy pub with an excellent Sunday roast. Open fireplace and very friendly and welcoming staff. Food was really tasty, generous and great value for money. Definitely recommend a visit.

Not Good at all. Booked a table for eight people for a fortieth birthday meal. Upon arrival the staff where all very moody we stood at the bar patiently they skipped us four times and served people who came in after us to beverages. Then when they did finally get to serve us and point not seat or guide us to our table it was really not welcoming at all, we asked for a child seat to which the reply was we only have one and that's in use I did find another and it was FILTHY I asked for it to be cleaned and the reply was yes we will do it in a minuet so twenty minuets went by and still not cleaned. At this point we left the establishment as they had not even engaged with us to order food or offer any form of service including cleaning the child seat this was our first and last visit they lost a lot of custom and revenue the first round of drinks came to £25.84 this was without food so I would estimate about £200 - £250 if we had stayed. The lesson there for the Mary Rose is be polite and look after your PAYING GUESTS really disappointed with them and I would not recommend a visit I have had to put one star to rate but frankly not even worth...

Sorry to say this was simply the worst pub food experience ever which was a real shame as this place used to be good and is my local. Booked for a birthday celebration for 7 people on a Saturday evening. Very quiet (warning bells should have rung then) and took over an hour and a half(!) for some meals to arrive. Others came another 20 minutes later still. Food was inedible, mostly reheated, some not as described with items missing. My "medium" mixed grill was burnt and quite honestly not fit for consumption. I have never in my life left a steak on my plate and was ready to walk out. Staff were rude with zero customer service skills. After complaining and to the manager's credit we were begrudgingly offered a full refund and free desserts. It was that bad we skipped the desserts as we quite frankly had had enough of the place. Other diners were equally disappointed with a queue waiting for refunds. Families dining genuinely all looked miserable. The only positive was the beer tasted ok. The birthday was thoroughly spoilt so no second chances for this place. You have...

Well what a shambles ... I advise people to avoid the MARY ROSE PUB, Cheslyn Hay for food. Been to a Birthday meal tonight there and ... A well done steak was burnt to a cinder, 2 meals had burnt chips served (yes, the whole portion) and a 'surf and turf' was served .... burnt steak, 6 scampi and chips. When the waiter was asked where the rest of the meal was, as stated on the nenu - he said it would have to be cooked???? Thus a 10 minute wait for the onion rings, tomato and mushrooms to be cooked whilst rest of meal was stone cold!!! Asked why they had served inedible hard, burnt chips? So we had to wait another 10 minutes for fresh ones to be cooked and again rest of two meals were cold by the time they arrived... utter disgrace. It's not as if the kitchen was busy we were 5 covers and we only counted 4 others dining. At end of meal we were presented with a voucher for 20% off our next dining experience there ... I don't think so!! If I had pre-paid and booked this I would have demanded a...
