Ive always liked 5 guys even if it is more expensive than other burger places however my experience in West quay after spending £23 on 2 burgers and a drink each was not good. We have a 1 year old daughter amd she also needs to eat, i asked for a small bowl of boiling water so we could heat her food, i was told to wait at the counter and they would bring it over, they bought me a cup of hot water, i reiterated i needed boiling water to be able to heat my daughters food, and the lady said she wasnt allowed to give me boiling water, however she would ask her manager, her manager came over asked what the problem was i explained i needed boiling water to heat my daughters food and he said that they didnt have any boiling water (so from wasnt allowed to not having any), i questioned this being that they are a resteraunt and i asked if they then had a kettle or could they at least heat the food for me instead and he insisted they they didnt have any boiling water, they didnt have a kettle, and they didnt have any microwaves, he said he couldnt even have a lemsip if he wanted one. I asked what was i to do them as my daughter needed her food heated, he said try nanados!! I said ive placed and paid for my order, he said sorry and walked off.
The 1 star review is not based on bad food but just a bad experience, in future i wont be able to take my family to 5 guys as i wont be able to heat my daughters food and staff definitely do not seem interested in helping. I still dont believe that they do not have boiling water or access to boiling water. To add to the matter they then proceeded to allow a 12 year old to walk away from the counter carrying a Budweiser beer with no other adult around!! 1 rule...
Read moreEcstatic to see they were on Deliveroo but I had to call up to ask if the hotdogs were sold out as they weren’t on the menu. The man I spoke to was quick to check and rectify the issue.
Then I noticed Milkshakes were also missing so I called again. The next guy was not as willing to help, immediately telling me it was a Deliveroo problem without even bothering to check. He kept cutting me off and saying there was nothing he could do. Now once I managed to explain I had literally just called and his colleague HAD done something all of a sudden he could check. Lo and behold the Milkshakes appeared so it was not a Deliveroo problem after all.
How disappointing to be made to endure such patronising treatment.
The food is great but when having to go through Deliveroo I always have issues be it missing items (it’s not the first time I’ve had to call for an item to be returned to the menu) or missing condiments. I ALWAYS have to call to reiterate I want extra mayo sachets or the “mayo on the side” part of my order...
Read moreAmerican Diners are not for me. Sorry. Dont like the decor... irrespective of food.. But son wanted to try their burgers and hey...it was his birthday... He liked it. And service at counter fine too. But ...my view is that burgers are .overpriced.. Cheeseburger £8.50ish...! I dont myself care for 'two' slabs of meat/ burger in one bap. Its just gorging... 'One' could have meant a better price too!?. £45 for 3 burgers and 3 drinks with 1 x large fries. Rather a proper restaurant. Not much more.. Have to admit, clearly popular with the younger.generation. Strange how they come in with Primark bags - cheap shopping - and probably spend more on their lunch.... How things change.... I might respect their choice but sad the food culture for the country is gearing this way. What does it say about our health and eating habits..for the future.. To some - large - extent, kids will be drawn in by whats offered, especially the quick, easy and 'cheap' in the deeper sense of the word.... Cant we do...
