I would like to have seen more than just a plaque to commemorate the recent Falklands anniversary. Perhaps a statue of some sort. ♿️ It’s free to look around.

Holyrood Church dates from 1320. This Anglican Church took a direct hit during the Blitz in 1940 but the clock tower remained standing. The ruins of the church were restored in 1957 and dedicated as a memorial to Merchant Navy seafarers. Worth a look if you're in the vicinity.

The church was build in the 13th century and bombed by the Germans in 1940.There is a memorial dedicated to the people who were killed.The church was known locally as a sailors church.There's also a memorial to the RMS Titanic,and several more,including the Falkland's War in 1982.Well worth a visit.The area the church is in was heavily bombed in the second world...

The church of Holyrood erected on this site in 1320 was damaged by enemy action on 30 Nov 1940. Known for centuries as the church of the sailors the ruins have been preserved by the people of Southampton as a memorial and garden of rest, dedicated to those who served in the Merchant Navy and lost their lives...
