Legends Cafe — Restaurant in Southampton

Ordered from here for delivery. Firstly they put my partner's black pudding in with my feel good breakfast and I can't stand the smell or taste of that so I couldn't eat the food it had touched. Toast wasn't freshly made as the minimal amount of spread hadn't melted. It also was only applied to the centre of the toast. Poached eggs were rock hard, bacon was hard but pale. Tomato almost but not quite raw. Suspect that this food was cooked in a microwave. The whole thing was swimming in revolting tasting cheap oil, hardly 'feel good'. The bacon on this breakfast was the same as that in the all day breakfast, so not lean as advertised. Chips on the all day breakfast could have done with a few more minutes in the fryer....

The plates were covered in very large chips that went down to the porcelain. Food was nice though and good portion size, but the mug of tea I had was dirty (had dried food of some kind on it) and the rim of the mug was covered in deep chips that were dirty as obviously bare porcelain doesn’t clean up well so hard to tell if those were stains or not clean. I just asked for the money back for the tea as I was a bit put off ordering another one. The lady only gave me back half the price of the tea even though I didn’t drink any of it. Lovely café, very friendly staff, decent prices, nice simple food, right on Shirley High Street opposite the precinct. What else could you want from a café? Simple but elegant decor, full windowed front meaning well lit by daylight. The only downside was a lack of gluten free items on the menu, but options for vegetarians and staff are happy to substitute items within reason. A bit cramped for disabled persons but you should be able to manage to squeeze between tables in a wheelchair...just.
