Cafe Aroma Shirley — Restaurant in Southampton

Lovely place. We are out-of-towners and stopped in for lunch. Both of us are very impressed with the choice of food and beverages, the quality and the price. We had the American breakfast and I'd say it was good value. Two hash browns, two bacon, scrambled eggs (also two in my opinion), three pancakes and syrup. Great coffee and very efficient, friendly service. Edit: Four weeks later we are back in the area and had another really great experience. This time the Maxi Breakfast defeated one of us and the Chicken and Avocado salad thoroughly satisfied the other. Passing through, needed a great breakfast and found Cafe Aroma which fits the bill. Relaxed and comfortable, and prompt service, very nice indeed with a broad menu but I went traditional full.

I had the 'Late Breakfast', good value, and I added black pud as an extra. Got a large tea, which is served in a tall glass, bag in so you can deal with it how you like. Milk on the side. Sausage and bacon were quality meat, thick bacon and tasty, and the black pudding as well makes this a pig-lover's delight.

Fried bread was also excellent, delicately decadent. The brekkie I had included tinned toms and mushrooms, but other menu items include fresh veg ingredients. I didn't sample these on trip...

Food was not worth tha plate it was served on , I had a maxi breakfast for £11 2eggs 2 bacon 2 sausages ,beans ,tomato ,mushrooms hash brown and 2 toast i only eaten the bacon hash browns and the eggs because I was starving. The mushrooms were tin mushrooms with no flavour not a pinch of salt or pepper in sight , the beans were a runny mess slightly wormed up with 2 tined tomatoes , sausages we're probably the cheapest Quality one can buy 95% bread 4% seasoning and 1% pork, and then the toast ,how can someone mess that up ??? By slightly having the breat touch the toaster and calling it toast bread!! it was so under toasted the plate didn't even have...
