Na's Bar and Galley — Restaurant in Southampton

First time. Used to go to Paddle and Peel. I wanted it to be great. We booked for 7:45 on a Friday. We assumed it would be open until 10/11 like most places on the weekend (our fault for not checking). Food was served, it was good. We ordered drinks, not knowing they close at 9pm. If they said they close at 9pm we would understand. Instead, they served us (probably at 8:50) and the two girls stood folded armed staring at us for an extended period. It wasn’t until 9:20 we assumed something was not right. We asked, “are you closing soon?” The reply was, “we close at 9?!!” Then everything made sense! The next 10 minutes were incredible awkward with the owners cleaning, the staff staring whilst we rushed the drinks and the bill. It all could have be avoided if they just communicated better. Such a shame. Would love to support local businesses but as a business owner myself. Honest feedback is important. Three stars is very generous for the experience! Food was ok, experience was poor. We were recommended this spot by an acquaintance and decided to give it a go. Don’t let the tucked away location fool you. Wandering down the industrial estate, the last thing you expect to find is a cute little restaurant opposite the boatyard. It’s a gem. The restaurant is lovely, it feels very homely and resembles a living room with that cosy, intimate feeling. The cocktails took a little time to come out but honestly that’s the only point I could mark this place down on. Everything other than that was top notch. We always go to the schmooze on the last Sunday of every month, which is always a great afternoon of live music and excellent service from their attentive bar / service staff. This week saw the hyped up / ramped up version. Na’s festival. It was brilliant. Utterly diverse in the many music acts playing. Something for everyone. The cooking was being done by Na outside. The aromas of Thai food tantalising the taste buds. The spicy king prawn noodles were indeed spicy & amazing in flavour. Everyone working that day was a gem.
