The Broadway — Restaurant in Southampton

Used to enjoy going here to watch the football but when we visited on Saturday we received the worst service ever. We stood at the bar waiting to be served whilst others were pushing to the front. The Bar people were clearly incompetent as every time another bunch of students ordered cheap and nasty cocktails from a carton they preceded to read the instructions from a menu. The Bar staff could clearly see when it was our turn to be served yet seemed to serve whoever was closest to them every time or what appeared to be friends of theirs. We stood at the bar for 25 mins until we finally decided to leave and will not be returning to this pub ever. The toilets never get cleaned and are littered with rubbish. Genuinely impossible to purchase drinks here; on the several (unfortunate) occasions I have entered the establishment the queue has been four people thick, along one of the longest bars I have seen. There is one simple explanation for this - they are consistently vastly understaffed; three people behind the bar is simply too few. It is a shame because some of the facilities they offer for example their pool tables and many TV screens seem fantastic. Bad food, insultingly so. I ordered a veggie pizza. It came with a really lush meat one after 45 mins waiting. 1/5th had been cut off, presumably where it was jet black. I've never seen that before. The remainder was still burnt dry and absolutely cold. I would have swnt it back but didnt have time. My companion ate hers and we left. I dont mind mistakes and issues but the cook obviously hated their job and if you have to cut off part of a pizza you dont then send it out unless you have a very high level of contempt.
