Booked on Saturday afternoon for a meal last night (Monday), I thought we were being over-cautious booking a table but was surprised to see how busy it got for a Monday evening in March!! We were seated in the restaurant area; we had already decided to have a “meze” style meal so had a 4 for £6 cold tapas (houmous, taramasalata, feta stuffed olives & olivieh) while we decided what we were going to eat. We decided on patatas bravas, albondigas, chorizo, Cretan cheese pies, falafel, Spanish croquettes & sartheles (aka sardines)...oh and a bowl of couscous each For dessert I had a caramel crunch cheesecake & my husband had the baklava For drinks we started with a Diet Coke & a Mythos then I had a bottle of rose (brought half of it home with me!) & finished off with an espresso martini while hubby had a bottle of red, finished off with a tawny port I cannot remember the last time I was sooo full, in hindsight I think we ordered at least one dish too many :-)) I don’t know if it is a common occurrence but I didn’t realise the “piped” music (I’d describe as “lounge jazz”) was actually a man playing a guitar near the door. We had been sat down the back of the restaurant so can imagine it might’ve been a bit louder if you were sat in the bar area The only downside I can mention is that, as with all meze restaurants, when you get a table for two you don’t get a lot of room on which to put the plates, your drinks glasses and the bottle(s)!
The meal and venue fully met all my expectations and I am sure we will...
Read moreBar Azita serves up an excellent variety of Mediterranean dishes that are vibrant and full of flavor. From the photos, the dishes appear fresh, well-prepared, and beautifully presented.
Grilled Vegetables and Chicken Skewers: The charred chicken pieces look perfectly cooked, with a golden-brown crust and a smoky touch. The vegetables add color and balance to the dish. The portion size seems fair for sharing. Pastries: The triangular pastries look golden, crispy, and flaky, with a dusting of herbs for an added punch. These look delicious and likely offer a satisfying crunch, complemented by the sauces. Fish with Salad: The grilled fish fillet served over a colorful salad of tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions looks fresh and light. The herbs on top add a nice pop of green, and the lemon wedge suggests a tangy kick to enhance the flavors.
The meal presentation at Bar Azita appears inviting and carefully prepared, showcasing Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influences. This is a great spot to enjoy tapas-style dining in a warm, casual setting.
Would definitely recommend for those looking for a mix of bold flavors and...
Read moreWas actually really disappointed tonight, we had a large group who were celebrating and from the get go we had rude waiters, thought nothing of it until one of our friends (who we were there celebrating) didn’t even get one dish served after the rest of the table had already finished theirs, she had to ask for her main to be served. Our plates were being taken away before we’d finished and we had to keep on saying “please leave it I’m not finished.” To which we got frosty receptions from the waiters. I even had my alcoholic drink taken before I’d finished it. Along with this, we had around 3 different waiters hurrying us out of the restaurant because there was another party even though they had served the meals late and scowled the entire time. Felt rushed, not welcomed and like we were a hassle for the waiters. We were there for around an hour and 10 minutes, I’d understand if we occupied the table for 3 hours but we barely got past the hour. On top of this at the end, the rude staff tried to add a 12% service charge for essentially kicking us out. I’m really not happy with...
