Tay Tar Thai @Harpenden — Restaurant in St Albans

First time. Ordered a takeaway for two. Small portions, overpriced (especially their tempura veg), and of average taste. One of the curries was requested as mild for my daughter. Turned out to be too spicy for her to eat. Called the restaurant to let the staff know. First, they tried to blame it on my daughter not being able to handle even a mild curry. When I assured them my daughter is used to spices, staff blamed it on their curry paste. Apparently they can’t control how spicy the curry paste is. In which case, they shouldn’t be offering a mild version of the curry. They clearly made a mistake with the level of spiciness. All they had to do was admit to the error but no such luck. Explained this was my first time ordering from the restaurant and probably my last due to the cost and the subsequent wastage of the food due to their error. The staff on the phone did not offer a resolution to the problem. They also did not appear to care about...

We ordered a takeaway meal and it was probably the worst Thai meal we have ever had. The ribs were tough and full of fat. The salt and pepper Chicken was bland and very small portion - as was the salt and pepper squid, which was also tough and very rubbery. By far the worst was the main course Tamarind Duck! 6 paper-thin slices of over cooked duck breast sitting on top of boiled white cabbage!! The Tamarind sauce was separate. I have never seen Tamarind Duck served this way before. Every Thai meal I’ve ever had has a full duck breast cooked on the skin to make the skin crispy, with the meat slightly pink and then sliced (as it should be) this was the worst experience ever!! We have travelled extensively in the Far East, including Thailand and have never had such a poor quality and poor value Thai meal as this. Avoid at all costs! Absolutely stunning food. Great atmosphere & wonderful staff!

Thai is by far one of my favourite cuisines so when my friend told me how incredible this place is after eating here a few days previously we had to go. We tried quite a few dishes & each one was just to die for. Exploding with flavour, everything perfectly cooked, fresh, hot, delicious. My friend recommended the banana fritters & they are absolutely to die for!

The restaurant has a wonderful warm & cosy atmosphere. The staff are welcoming, friendly & attentive. Every single bite was heavenly, if I could give them 10 stars I would. Thank you for an amazing evening will be supporting you...
