Pasta Cibo — Restaurant in St Albans

I have divided feelings about my visit in this place. Quite nice at the entry, small and cosy restaurant. Tiny toilet right at the end, passing the open kitchen wasn't really pleasant experience. The starter I ordered was antipasto pasta Cibo as a selection of Italian meats olives and mozarella, but what I got wasn't really what I was looking forward coz they only put two dry olives and one tiny slice of mozarella, disappointing. The waiter, wasn't much focused on taking our orders, he kept popping away to do something else and then he was back again. Also, he dropped a heavy butter knife on my head, to my surprise I had to admonish him: "excuse me, you have just dropped something on my head", to which he replied with an attitude: "I did say I'm sorry, didn't I?", which in fact I didn't hear... THIS IS RARE! A very small, independent, family run (for many, many years) Italian restaurant that is cosy, comforting, welcoming and just down right unpretentious. Unlike the other 99.9% of eating/drinking establishments in the surrounding St. Albans/Harpenden areas. Pasta Cibo is what it is: Good, honest, wholesome, family food that you'd expect to find in the backstreets on a jaunt over in Italy. Reminds me so much of those "little gems" you discover when on your hols! Chefs are good at their profession. Front end are happy, smiley people who don't rush at 100mph in a mass of disgrace: Exactly what the experience should be. Unrushed. Unhurried. You are their guest for the evening and not just another 'cover' coming through the door! And a big "Thank you" to Matteo for sorting out an overcharged bill on one of our visits. It was the worst Italian dining experience ever! Even they are not proper Italian foods. Can you imagine an Italian dish which is served with a piece of chopped tomatoes and lettuce? We thought that we can order mains after starters but we did not because it was not tasty at all. Would not recommend it. Thankfully they do not charge you with any service charge.
