Carmelo's — Restaurant in St Albans

Unfortunately we have since had a very disappointing experience. Placed an online order for delivery. Waited 80 minutes. Phoned for an update where the chap was very rude to me saying he had no driver and couldn't deliver. I explained I wasn't to know that and if he'd phoned me I would have collected. He said he was too busy and even suggested he was burning other customers food whilst having to talk to me. Won't use again after being spoken to like that!

Previous review that we gave 5 stars to We trusted Carmelo’s to cater our party. We popped in and chatted to them and they advised correctly how many pizza’s we’d need. From me,a five star review. Without a doubt! The coffee is fantastic, the food is even better In my opinion. When you stop off here, though it may seem slightly expensive (which is normal for every independent business in this district). You will find exceptional value for money.

For me, this is the epitome of independent businesses. Fantastic quality, great feel. A pure joy to be of locality too.

The fact that a member of staff left to source ingredients for an "off menu" request. Was the tip top for me.. this is service you will never find at Starbucks or Costa. Also, never can you expect to eat a pizza as great as Carmelo's from either of the pre-mentioned franchise's... This is proper pizza, definitely try it.

Although it's become a cliché term, "hidden gem" describes this place perfectly. Down a side road off the main stretch of London Colney, this authentic Italian style café/restaurant does both day and night excellently. By day, the coffee is fantastic, cakes etc. varied, and light lunches delicious and well thought out. By night, the pizza is the main draw. It really is good pizza, and authentic too: thin, crispy bases, and generous fresh toppings. To top it off, the staff are amazing! Friendly, attentive, and highly accommodating. I live about 15 mins drive away and will happily make the trip just for a coffee in the morning. If you're in the local area there's really no excuse not to try out this...
