Inn On The Green — Restaurant in St Albans

I had a reservation booked for 2 people at 5pm on 17/02/2024 for a late valentines meal due to being poorly on Valentine’s Day. First impressions were great, very lovely looking restaurant with a great vibe. We were seated pretty quickly by a gentleman (possible shift manager) who said once ready to come to the bar to order. We picked out meals and I proceeded to wait at the till to the left. No one was in front of me thou one server was serving a few drinks customers on the next till. So I waited holding a menu in clear view of one other girl who wasn’t serving and another lady who looked as if she had just started her shift. After nearly 10 minutes and still waiting (in this time one of the servers was making two alcohol filled cocktails which I assumed were for customers) this server made eye contact with me multiple times as did the lady who was starting her shift, I was shocked to see the server give one cocktail to another server and they both drank them laughing about how strong they were. She then put her drink down and said to the lady who I assume just started “I’m on cocktails but do you want me to serve this lady (meaning myself) by this time I’d be waiting around 10-12 minutes. To which this lady said oh sorry are you waiting I thought you were just stood there. I was so taken back that I said no thank you I will eat elsewhere. As we were leaving the gentleman who sat us asked if I was ok I said I don’t feel it is acceptable for workers to ignore customers while making personal drinks nor should they be drinking while working and servicing customers and left. I am absolutely appalled and will contact head office for to filed a complaint as this was...

Awful food and experience! We visited for a family gathering on Sunday 27 August at tea-time (four adults and three kids). The two adult roast beef meals were horrible – the beef was just fat and the meat chewy. The kids roast chicken was extremely dry and hard – it looked reheated. And worst of all, was my elderly mother-in-law's prawn and chorizo on sour dough bread. Honestly, the chorizo looked as though it had been cooked three days ago. The pieces were like little STONES – in fact, she unknowingly took a bite of one and BROKE HER FRONT TOOTH because it was so rock-hard. We complained at the time and all they did was take off the money for this starter; ridiculous compensation for the huge dental fees she now faces. What a joke. Won't be coming back here. No wonder it was pretty empty and there was hardly anybody...

We visited this pub again for a family get together as last year food was really nice. What a disappointment. We were served with limp lettuce and runny coleslaw. Vegetables were atrocious, I think they were definitely past their sell by date. The hunters chicken and macaroni cheese were nice but all served in a cracked and chipped serving dish, , I don’t know how they felt comfortable serving that up. It was embarrassing. Pub was very quiet and I can understand why. I did mention the limp lettuce to a member of staff but didn’t get any response. Decided not to have dessert and left. Needless to say won’t be...
