I visited Lussmann in April when they were revamping their menu and enhancing it with new flavors. Lussmanns Harpenden, located in an 18th-century former coach house with a view of Leyton Green, exudes a charming countryside atmosphere. Guests can enjoy outdoor dining in the enclosed garden and have private meals in a lovely first-floor room. We began with Passion Fruit Martini and Chapel Down Gin. Our appetizers included Red Lentil Soup and Thyme Roasted Beetroot, which were not only beautifully presented but also wonderfully tasty. For the main course, we savored Halibut, Corsican Slow-Braised Label Anglais Free-Range Chicken, and Sirloin Steak with fries. We also ordered Seasonal Market Vegetables and fries as sides. I must say every dish was meticulously prepared, expertly combined, and served at the perfect temperature. The steak, in particular, was excellently cooked to a medium rare, just as I had requested. To conclude our outstanding meal, we indulged in Pineapple Carpaccio and Sweet & Bitter Orange Brûlée, accompanied by a delightful cup of espresso. Our waitress, Jaida, was exceptionally cheerful and attentive, and the manager, Michael, was highly professional, ensuring everything ran smoothly. At the end of our fantastic dining experience, I had the privilege of personally thanking Chef Sergio, an affable young talent with a promising future. I want to extend my congratulations to Andrei for assembling such an incredible team. I wholeheartedly recommend everyone to pay a visit to Lussmann in Harpenden for an exceptional dinner or lunch. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. Best...
Read moreI dined at Lussmans yesterday with a friend. On entering I was pleased to see a nice out door garden to chill out. I made a note to self that I would return and remember this place in the summer. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The waiter let us know all of their specials before we ordered and we were under no pressure to rush or to order from the specials menu. The layout of the restaurant showed the querky characteristics of a modernised cottage. The decor felt modern and the environment was easy going and relaxing. The food was delicious, I especially enjoyed the paella with the halloumi. I throughly enjoyed this restaurant and would recommend it.
I had only one minor reservation (which didn't effect me directly) I saw an elderly couple having to go upstairs to the toilets, which revealed the fact that I would not be able to bring my dad to this restaurant as he would struggle up and down the steep steps. As long as the steep stairs to the toilets do not effect you, please do visit Lussmans it...
Read moreDreadful service :£10 a head lost!
3 of us had a reservation for a birthday lunch but one of the party was unwell (possible Covid symptoms) so the evening before we sensibly emailed and would have wanted to rebook . Also phoned the restaurant first thing in morning to double check . Very unhelpful staff member who said that £10 a head would be taken from credit card irrespective of whether another booking was made later!
It seems at the moment that it would be madness to book until the actual day for fear of losing deposit . In normal circumstances mild flu like symptoms would not result in a cancellation but at the moment taking the responsible course of action has resulted in this penalty. Surely the money could be held on account until the amended booking ? None of our 3 families ,extended families and friends will tbe returning in light of this. The restaurant also blamed this policy on OpenTable reservations but theit information states cancellations need to be only 30...
