My wife decided to treat the children and myself to a treat. I am a big fan of Lebanese cuisine and middle eastern food in general. It's a genuine restaurant in it's own right that just so happens to offer take away rather than a takeaway that has a few tables. It's a small place with a four or five tables which makes it feel like you are in someone's kitchen diner in a good way. It is intimate yet relaxed. A small family run independent which does not need to oversell itself. A good range on the menu but some things had run out which is never a bad sign. We chose a meat platter, kofta kebabs and the shwarma. All lived up to expectations and even extended beyond them. The portion size is generous and the price is very reasonable. I would order the humous as a sharing starter. They offer Lebanese inspired soft drinks which were non fizzy fruit combinations were delightful. Excellent service from beginning to the end. The restaurant is on the corner of Clarence Park which is an added treat as you can enjoy a nice...
Read moreThis is probably my favourite restaurant in all of St Albans. Having spent the majority of the last 2 years in this city due to covid-19 crisis and working from home, I was able to try out most of the restaurants in the area. This one stands out above most. Though I don't recommend eating at the venue, as the place is tiny, it's super easy to just call 15-20 minutes before to collect your order. A super friendly gentleman always answers the phone and makes it easy to make adjustments to your order. The food is phenomenal, and feels like proper homemade stuff, and the price is quite low given the quality. Highly recommend the mixed grill (for one or two) as it allows you to try out multiple meats. The chips and rice are outstanding as well, and the chicken shawarma is probably the best in town. The lamb, which is usually overcooked and chewy in most places, is actually properly cooked and feels fresh and flavourful. And because they use real coal in their grills, the chicken and meat always has that unique...
Read moreOrdered a takeaway and it was so naf! Absolutely no pride went into the making of this meal; it seemed like they were just cutting corners on everything. How this place has 4.7 stars begs believe - peoples' standards must be really low or there's a bit of self reviewing going on...
Ordered a falafel wrap. It was rubbish; soft and definitely not fresh, with a bit of lettuce shoved in and a bit of tomato. No hummus or tahini (as it said on the menu!).
Likewise, I had some rice which was pretty much the same as you'd get in a 'boil in a bag' from the supermarket - pre cut vegetables etc. Grim.
Then to top it off Everything came in a polystyrene boxes COME ON have you guys been living under a rock the last 5 years ?! Lets reduce plastic and use cardboard/paper/ etc.
Won't be going here again unless they change their ways and start making a bit...
