I’ve been here many time and recommend it regularly. Especially outside in the summer. We like it so much we booked a disabled accessible table for my disabled parents to visit and watch the Six Nations with us today. We arrived 5 mins ago to be shown a table that had no view of any screen to watch the rugby. We immediately advised that the booking was a specifically advertised Six Nations table. Which we booked for our disabled parents and we’d called to confirm could be used for their specific disabilities. They advised us to just stand and watch the game. I let them know that wouldn’t be possible (due to disabilities) and could they move us to another table.
They stated “nobody else has a problem. The other tables are all booked”.
We again showed our Six Nations disabled booking. Asked nicely again if there was anything they could do to help. They refused. We said we’d have to find somewhere else and politely said goodbye.
They shouted after us that “nobody else complains”
I’m rarely shocked. But I feel so so sorry for disabled people having to deal with this so often.
The Harpenden Arms welcomed us with open arms and provides an accessible seat with a view. Not sure I’ll ever return to The Crown. I never complain but I’m currently so disgusted, I might have to report these staff to management. I can’t believe anyone would be so obviously discriminatory with no...
Read more6 of us between 3 weeks and 67 years of age went there on a Sunday afternoon while the 6 nations rugby was on the TV. The pub was friendly. The noise from the rugby didn't disturb us and the three week old did not disturb the rugby. Service was quick and friendly, both for drinks and food. It being Sunday, classical roasts - beef, lamb, pork, chicken and a veggie option were on the menu. We entered the pub in late afternoon, so the roasts were over their ideal cooking time but still not dry to eat. Your correspondent, a recent member of CAMRA, was intrigued to see beers from Tring Brewery. There were four of their beers on tap (hand pulled), and he would have liked to have tried all of them. Sense prevailed though and he only had a half of the weakest as he had to drive home. On the tasting of the beer, he will be looking for Tring Brewery products elsewhere. In summary, we all enjoyed the food and drink in the pub, except for the three week old - who was not directly served by the pub. Finally, I have no relationship with either the Crown or...
Read moreMe and my husband went there to have just a pre-drink before having his Christmas staff dinner next door -Abbey Spice. We were almost kicked out by the rudest woman bar tender ever.
My husband was demanded from this woman to have a drink or leave the place, my husband does NOT drink alcohol or fizzy drinks and he has the right to not drink, anyone should be respected by their choices, respect it's called. He was there just to make me company. She said with an unfriendly and pushy tone 'this a pub love, you have to have a drink'. So, we left, after 5 minutes followed by the 20 people part of the group.
All the way from to London to find the most 'amazing' customer service at The Crown in St. Albans. Obviously after dinner, the group of 30 people were advised not to go there never, we went instead to the Horn. SHE LOST NOT ONLY 2 CUSTOMERS, BUT, 30 CUSTOMERS THAT HANG AROUND IN ST. ALBANS EVERY WEEKEND.
St. Albans has more than 2 pubs per meter square, so, AVOID THE CROWN, if you are...
