Booked my table the night before and gave notes to call me to arrange as I am in wheelchair. The manager called me and everything was sorted. I did ring to tell them I was running late and they were kind enough to keep our table for us even though they were very busy. Very cosy and well decorated inside, staff are very welcoming and friendly. We sat down and the table was very wobbly, the waiter tried to put napkins underneath but it wasn't working, luckily a kind neighbour worked out its had adjustable feet, problem solved. The waiter took his time to take our order and came back a couple of times to ensure everything was correct as we had allergies. Mains came out in good time, considering it was packed. But sadly my main was not complete, a part of the order was miscommunicated by the kitchen to the waiter and by the time I got to speak to the manager my steak was cold. I did eat my sides while I was waiting. The manager was very apologetic and they reheated my steak and gave me my missing item and I was very happy. The food was beautiful and fresh. The manager put a good will gesture off the bill for the inconvenience, which I was happy to accept. We will be eating here again.

Visited with my mum, sister and brother in law for his birthday and it wasn't the best experience. We love miller and carter but my sister accidentally booked the wrong one but didn't realise until we arrived. She was gutted as remembered she'd heard from the friend that it wasn't great but we remained open minded. We entered the restaurant/bar areas and noticed it looked quite dated compared to other ones we'd been to. We were greeted promptly and taken to our table where we were told there was no heating so recommended we not choose the table by the window. We were cold and so we're told we could order hot drinks free of charge... we did so however this didn't help so we had to sit and eat our meals with our coats on which isn't ideal at all. We were freezing cold, numb hands and feet while eating a meal and couldn't wait to get out and go home. Unfortunately, this ruined our experience which was a shame as the food was nice (although not as good as I've had from other miller and carters) and the lady that waited on our twble was absolutely amazing!! She went above and beyond to make our experience as best it could possibly be, very friendly and bubbly! All on all it was a disappointing experience and we wouldn't return to this restaurant in the future.

A real shame. Lovely building, friendly staff, rather abrupt treatment by the manager, and food ruined by being kept for far too long under lamps. Ordered 8oz sirloin steak. What arrived was so thin it resembled the sort of minute steak you might expect in a baguette. The chips arrived much later than the rest of the food, and when they arrived they were undercooked. No idea what happened to the shrivelled tomato in balsamic dressing. Refer to picture. Steak sauce had been around long enough to develop its own skin. Disappointing in nearly every respect. Have come to expect better from this restaurant which isn't usually this mediocre. And it's not cheap either. Lunch for four, including one starter, four mains, and two sweets. Four soft drinks.....£125.00. Not exactly a bargain given what turned up. Will be writing to Miller and Carter.

for starters, the plus points - lovely historic building in Wheathampstead and picturesque outside seating area overlooking the river - wonderfully friendly and personable staff who went above and beyond in looking after their customers - unfortunately, the fifty day aged fillet and rib eye steaks were not good - tough to cut, even with proper steak knives - distinctly lacking in the taste and quality you would expect from supposedly top end steaks - we ate at the nearby Elephant and Castle pub the following evening and enjoyed superbly tender and flavoursome steaks at half the price. Hopefully we were just unlucky on the evening we visited Miller and Carter Wheathampstead - the waiting staff deserve better.

Brilliant steak house had steak out for first time was lovely well cooked medium with pink and well presented. Would definitely recommend the buttermilk chicken breast too and the puddings are lovely. Down side at start lady said be back in a minute take a friend's drink order but was delay 15 min. We all had drinks except 2 guests. After another 30min finally got the gluten free menu and the standard menu. We were only given set menu waiting on table at start. Then after everyone had eaten their pudding they finnaly bought out my friends pudding last after about half hour and was barely warm. Other than that staff are lovely and nice cosy place to take the family and my nefue enjoyed the kids menu.

We went to the Bull Inn in Wheathamstead for an Anniversary lunch. We both started with the cheesy mushrooms and then I had rump steak and salad and my other half had the vegan burger with chips. It was all cooked perfectly and the service was amazing. We were served by Clare and she was very friendly and attentive. For dessert we both opted for the mini dessert with a hot drink. I had a mini banoffee pie and he had a mini creme brulee. For drinks I had a delicious cocktail off Disarrona Amaretto and raspberry puree. They kitchen also decorated a plate for us with caramel profiteroles and strawberries 🍓all delicious 😋
