The Gibraltar Castle — Restaurant in St Albans

I had heard that this place was under new management, so decided to pop down around 6:30pm on a Saturday night. The place wasn’t busy, and the staff were pleasant.

On arrival, we ordered our meal. We were told that we were the fifth order in the kitchen.

50 mins later we were received our pil pil garlic prawns. Tasted great, but not enough bread for the plate.

The mains arrived 1 hour and 10 mins after ordering. The plates were delicious, but the time to wait was not good.

Afternoon Tea

Visited the pub for the first time today for a combined 60th/90th birthday celebration.

Easy parking outside and warm welcome once inside the pub.

The tea platter was impressive and very reasonably priced.

Sandwich fingers were well filled, the scone was full of fruit and melted in the mouth along with the cream & jam. Tea flowed and the accompanying cakes - all home made - were light and tasty.

Brilliant service and good company made the afternoon a joy.

Expect to go back for a meal next time...

Popped in for lunch after taking the dog for a walk at Batford Springs. Had the meat and olive charcuterie and a pint each. Could not fault the food which was a decent size and delicious and really reasonably priced. We sat outside in the lovely raised bank area which was perfect area for a dog to chill.
