Ackie's Pizzeria — Restaurant in St Helens

Re-reviewed 2019-09 - Ackies had changed owners. Different staff, different chefs, different shop. Ordered using their new online app (good idea!), which I couldn't specify gravy, or full salad on burgers. instead I had to add to the comments. 2 cheese burgers and 1 tower burger all with full salad and red sauce, 2 chips and a gravy. What we received was 2 cheese burgers and a tower burger with no salad at all on any of them. No sauce on any of them. 2 lots of chips. And no gravy until I requested it in shop. The burgers were average. The chips average. The gravy lumpy, and the chicken in the tower burger, didn't seem fully cooked. So I'd say this place is not the previous quality of Ackies. It's a shame. They also have dropped Chinese from the menu and instead added pizzas. So this is now mainly a pizza and burger venue, not a classic chippy. As we used to drive 10 miles to go to Ackies previously as they were that good a chippy. Much better fast food chippies in the area. We will be looking else where.

I don't usually post reviews but had to let you know that the food here is shockingly bad! Ordered chicken tikka for 7.30pm came at 7.50pm. Tikka very hot and very salty so inedible, rice greasy, bhaji very spicy. Rang and complained offered a replacement. Didn't want to chance another curry so ordered tikka nann and chips. After ringing another 3 times, eventually arranged 9.20pm. In the meantime I'd rung to say it was too late and I wanted a refund. When manager eventually arrived with food he said he'd refund the different if they found anything wrong with the original meal which I'd had to put back in the containers and give him back!! Got completely past wanting to eat by then but was going to have the chips, but they were barely warm and really didnt taste good, whatever they cooked them in wasnt very nice! So much for a treat on a Saturday night! Unbelievable, never known anything like it. Avoid...

This place is a no-go the curry meat is fully cooked then stored in metal containers then left in fridges that haven't been cleaned or maintained to the safe temperatures to keep food from carrying harmful bacteria that leads to food poisoning all the meats and pies including the kebab meat that goes in your mixed nan kebab are microwaved and touch your food without gloves or washed hands and serve customers with half frozen fish and if no fish are left they put the fish under hot tap water to defrost it with dirty hands they do not clean the shop or have any clue of food hygiene I would not recommend this takeaway to anyone and only put the 1star because I would not be able to...
