Black Horse Inn — Restaurant in St Helens

Unfortunately the food wasn't as good as it has been in the past. Ordered 2 ribeye steaks, one medium rare and the other medium. Both were overcooked, tasteless and tough. We'd waited so long for the food to be served we didn't want to complain and have to wait even longer for a replacement. Also found a foreign body in the side salad, not sure what it was but it resembled a small chicken bone. We did tell the waitress when she came to collect our plates, no apology and said she'd report it to the kitchen. We didn't get any feedback or an apology, £40 wasted. Sadly, I doubt we'll return. UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNER'S COMMENTS: We DID complain about the meals to the waitress, are you implying that I'm being dishonest in my review? Wasn't it the duty of the waitress to make the duty manager aware that we weren't happy with the meals?? Contrary to your claims that the foreign body was found in the jacket potato, I can assure you it was found in my friend's side salad, I had the jacket potato!! If you'd like to discuss this further please feel free to call me on the number I provided when I booked, because I can assure you I will not be returning to your pub to discuss it, nor will I be recommending you to family & friends. Went here for our lads 9th birthday today was made to fee very very uncomfortable and the bar man was totally rude to is and made us feel unwelcome so was asked if he wanted us there or not? The food came my lads burger was absolutely stone cold which they said they would replace but it was quite clearly put in the microwave I ordered extra large steak and was asked weather I wanted.chips or.fries of which j said chips when my.order came.it was fries so I asked the girl could they be replaced by chips of which she said yes I waited another 10 mins so my steak was almost gone when the chips finally arrived after me having to ask for.them another time they was rock hard under cooked and tasted like raw potato so I told them the man who was unexpectedly rude said we would.not be charged for the chips we paid for our food which was £99.48 and asked for receipt we was charged for the chips also charged for the fries we never asked for we will never ever take our family there ever again and if you have small children I wouldn't recommend as the clearly don't want young...

Booked a table for 5.30 and after deciding what we all wanted we went to order. Got told 40min wait for food but still ordered away, while at the table we could see people moaning how long they'd waited to the waitress and some ended up leaving after getting a refund. We ended up waiting over 50mins before the food ended up coming, so you look forward to having some good food after all that wait. All 3 of us got a shock at what we got because it was on the border of being cold because it was just left plated up and left without being brought to the table. Whoever thinks they can cook in the back i can honestly say someone under 10 could cook better food. You struggled to cut through any of the meat on all 3 plates because it had been overcooked that much. You ask for medium and it was all well done or could say burnt.
