The Brown Edge — Restaurant in St Helens

Came for a party with friends which was served a buffet of hot and cold food. Was spoken to in a very derogatory manner when asking if we could take it home. Needed to bring our OWN tupperware to take home £400 worth of food which wasn’t able to get wrapped and may be thrown in the bin. The manner of which the lady at the bar spoke to myself and a family member was just uncalled for. On top of when staff members behind the bar started talking about us and laughing to themselves. Asking just to bring a knife to cut a cake and wouldn’t even bring that. Clearly wanting us out. Just whispering and pointing at us the entire time. Also hearing people saying that they’re planning on taking our food once we’ve gone after we’ve payed so much money....

Decided to dine here after rave reviews from my friend. I was so impressed with the salt and pepper chicken starter and the pudding, but the roast was really disappointing considering it won an award for being the best roast dinner. The mash was lumpy, roasties were hard and gritty, veg was overdone and the chicken and roasties tasted and looked like they'd been fried so I'm not sure what exactly made it a roast. Awful food- had to send the roast beef dinner back. Had remnants of somebody else's roast turkey dinner on top of the luke warm veg that the piece of beef was placed on. Very off putting. Waitress tried make excuse that turkey was in the gravy but was big chunks turkey -very white and clearly not associated with the gravy. Very sad looking Yorkshire pud too..
