Visited a few weeks ago. Very busy & parking difficult. We sat outside but it was lovely and cosy, with the heater on. The lighting was lovely and staff were amazing. What let it down for me and why I wouldn't return was the prices and the food. I spent just over £40 on food for the 3 of us, and one of us is a toddler. I couldn't get over the kids meal, I ordered him a sandwich and it wasn't even a full piece of bread, it was half a piece of bread shaped into a car or something, I can't remember the shape but I was gobsmacked at the portion size and with that was a small portion of Crisps. Kids meals are usually good value for money and I thought the fact that you'd only provided half a sandwich and to charge a fiver or whatever it was, was pretty bad and I think that needs changing. Mine and my partners food were okay but definitely not worth what we paid. My partner was disappointed he wasn't warned the tomatoes were pureed tomatoes with his breakfast as he wouldn't of chosen to have them. I paid for a hot chocolate and milkshake which were expensive and again really nothing special about them, i expected something special for what I paid. The four star rating is due to the lovely staff, the atmosphere and the toilet/bathroom was...
Read moreI've been to Toast a few times since it first opened. It was beautiful, friendly and served fantastic food. Since Christmas, I have been approximately 3-4 times and each time it has had problems. The staff seem to fall apart if they have more than a couple of customers in. Waiting times for food border on ridiculous making it impossible to go there for a lunch break. I tried to counter this by getting my food to take out. I was told the food would take around 20 minutes, so I was offered my coffee to drink while I wait. I took a seat and waited 40 minutes until my coffee arrived followed by my food around 30 seconds later meaning I had to leave my coffee. Then when I sat down to eat my meal, they had got my order wrong. Their menu states that as part of a breakfast you can have the egg served any way I like. I asked for it scrambled and was told by a rather arrogant gentleman I'd have to pay more for this as it's impossible to make scrambled egg with one egg. Such a shame for a place like this to disintegrate into the place it is now and I hope they rectify...
Read moreOn arrival, the venue was quite busy and we were initially told there was no indoor seating available. After settling outside, we were informed that indoor seating was actually available, so we moved inside. We ordered a breakfast (with decaf coffee) and a soup. After around 20 minutes, our drinks arrived, but the coffee wasn’t decaf as requested, so it had to be remade and brought over. After waiting 45 minutes, just as we were about to ask about our food, it was finally served. The breakfast was missing a sausage, which we were told would be brought over shortly. We also noticed the mushrooms were missing and had to request those separately. The breakfast itself wasn’t great—the poached egg looked like it had been sitting out for a while. The soup was fine. We ate and left soon after. When asked about the meal, we said it was okay, but by that point we were...
