DO NOT BOOK YOUR FUNCTION HERE! We booked a christening function with food on arrival at 2pm in the Coach House which is something Verona advertise. The day was a disaster, if it wasn’t for the understanding of friends and family it would have been a day to forget. We booked for 2pm and nothing was ready, no lights, no music, no food, no drinks. Half of the double doors was screwed shut; given this was a christening it wouldn’t be hard to imagine prams being present. We confirmed on arrival we wanted the food bringing out to which they agreed. Prior to this we had spoke to half a dozen people who reassured us that everything would be ready. The food finally arrived at 3:20pm and some guests had to rush eating and leave for child care reasons. In-between 2:00 and 3:20 we asked where the food was and they said it was coming; at 3:15 we asked them to bring any food at all as it was ridiculous. The staff were oblivious, didn’t keep us up to date (we think they were trying to avoid us). After guests left 2 more dishes arrived to say “sorry”, and after people had dessert (thankfully we provided) or had left; we had no idea they were going to do this. When we came to settle the bill they tried to overcharge us as they had no idea what we had previously paid. When asked what happened with the food they (lied and) said thought it was 3pm. This was after reminding them multiple times what we had booked including on arrival. The room decoration was not carried out to instruction (repeated several times) and tables were everywhere splitting up the party. They tried charging us for the drinks we ordered which was again a different price (£55 quoted, £45 on the day); they cancelled this after we complained. We got 5 pizzas (2 more latter), a bowl of salad and bowl of pasta for £150 – the food was OK but certainly not £150 worth. We paid £75 to hire the room. I think the worse though is that the staff had no sympathy, understanding and tried to hide what was going on from us.
I am writing this as my wife was so upset to do so; we feel that we have been fleeced & robbed by Verona and they should be ashamed of themselves for ruining a once in a...
Read moreOrdered four meals at 5:40; the Don Corleone Burger, Giardino, Penne Con Pollo, and the Giardiniera. The order was placed for delivery with a time of 8:20 given by the restaurant. I called the them at 8:40 for an update on where the food was and was told after a few minutes that the food was still on the counter waiting for the driver and it would be with us soon.
Almost all the food arrived at 8:55 as they had forgot to send the pizza with the driver so the driver had to go back and get this for us. As the food was over half an hour late and had clearly been sat on the counter, presumably since the original delivery time of 8:20, the burger was dry and cold, as were the fries and all sides, one of the pasta dishes was al dente, the other far too overcooked because of sitting in a foil container for too long and the pizza, when it arrived had, far too many chilli's on.
The Giardiniera pizza's toppings are 'Med Veg, Mushroom, Red Onion and Black Olives with Tomato, Vegan Mozzarella, Garlic Oil and finished with Fresh Parsley' - nowhere on this ingredients list does it say 'chillis' let alone the excessive amount that were on this pizza. A quick search of 'Mediterranean vegetables recipe' in Google yielded five recipes at the top of the search all that did not include chilli's so I am at a loss as to why they were on this pizza and not mentioned in the ingredients list. One of these recipes was in fact an Italian Mediterranean vegetables recipe, which also did not include chilli's.
The total cost of this meal would have been roughly £60 but with discounts this came to £40. For the food and service received tonight I wouldn't have paid £20.
Cold, bordering on inedible food, with terrible delivery service. Would...
Read moreWe went to Veronas after reading the reviews. We normally go to Arietes. We booked our table and arrived 10 mins early. The table was not ready and had to be cleared and cleaned. We orded a cheesy garlic bread to be served with the meal and a ceaser salid for me and pizza for the wife with a bottle of pinot grigo to have with it. The cheesey garlic bread arrived first followed by my ceaser salid which was served in a desert bowl and looked more like a starter than a main course. My wife's pizza did not arrive as they informed us that the pizza had been made correctly and would have to be made again. The wine also did not arrive. As my salid was on the small side l had almost finished my meal before my wife's arrived the wine arrived after her pizza. The food was cooked OK and the service was acceptable. The table was just a normal uncovered pub table nothing special. The wine was not as good as we are used to but it was £5 more expensive yes l said more expensive for the same type of wine. We normal eat at Arietes which is also an Italian restaurant on the same road. The food there is no better or worse but the atmosphere is more to our likeing the tables are bigger and much better layed out with a table cloth and wine glasses ect. Our booked table has always been ready for us on our arrival and yes we have been more than 10mins early. We are not regular customers we tend to go 3or 4 times a year. The service is also better. The food and wine is also cheaper. As Reguards the wine the pinot grigo at Arietes comes in a bottle that has a Cork the Veronas was screw topped and tasted a bit rough in comparison. I hope this review is help full and if you haven't tried Arietes l surgest that you...
