Very good experience at Rump & Wade. The booking process was excellent with easy confirmation received The staff were excellent, attentive and helpful in explaining the Bottomless Brunch options. Pick a brunch dish and compliment with one of five bottomless drink choices. Simple. Unless you are me and pay the extra for the Bottomless Gin option where you had the choice of all the gins on the menu excluding Monkey 47. You cannot switch drinks once you have made your choice Sat in a booth with if you are a little on the larger side may be a squeeze. I personally would have preferred a table but that my own preference. The food was good and the staff were never far away if you needed a top up or more food. On a Saturday it was not too busy and the atmosphere was really relaxed and good. Definitely a place I will be attending again in the future.

What can I say? Group of five walked in for brunch and greeted by a friendly chap ‘Ricky’. Took time to listen to our ‘needy’ table requirements 😆. Sat us down, brought us menus, came to take our drink order - the poor guy couldn’t get away from us (sorry). Absolutely phenomenal service from this guy. He took our names (and used them!) spoken to us, laughed with us and was just awesome. Food (although took a while) was gorge! Freshly cooked to order, tasty and all local produce. We were checked on during our meal. After a great hen weekend in Stevenage, this was the very best ending we could wish for. Our bride even got a photo opportunity! Ricky is an absolute gem of a member of the team here and is an asset! They are so lucky to have him meeting, greeting, chatting and making customers feel welcome! Thank you!!!

Christmas dinner with colleagues. Large party of us. We had pre-ordered and each dish came out with the corresponding persons name so as to not miss anyone out and to avoid the usual confusion of who had ordered what. Tasty food, attentive service. Bit of a wait for some drinks on occasions (some even arrived after we had paid the bill!) - but it was a busy Friday night near Christmas. Overall, a very positive experience.

Colleagues and I ate here every day over a week whilst saying in the adjoining Cromwell Hotel. The bar area is very smart with classy stylish decor with pictures of Oliver Cromwell adorning the walls giving the modern bar area an old feel and an insight into this historic building. The restaurant has plenty of comfortable seating and a nice generally busy atmosphere and the tables aren't on top of each other so you can have a conversation with colleagues or friends in private and also not hear everyone around you.

The staff are well presented and very polite and helpful and always eager to please. Our regular waitress a young Irish lass didn't try to hurry us to order and was very nice cheerful and polite and talkative which is always nice. My colleagues and I were treated very well and despite the restaurant being very busy most evening services we were not rushed out the door to turn over tables but treated as if we were the only people in the restaurant.

Over our weeks stay the food generally arrived at table within 15 to 20 minutes and most of the time didn't disappoint. My colleagues and I generally felt the food was very good with a good range of mains especially the shin of beef and a daily changing fish special although those NOT eating burger based main course dishes did feel that the portions could have been bigger negating the desire for "snack or kebab" within an hour or so of dinner. Would definitely eat here again if I was...

Have come here about 3 times now for a cappuccino as they are really nice from here. However, the last time I stopped by I came with my 5 year old son and his dad. I ordered a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows(the marsh mallows and cream cost an extra 50p) for my son. I was told by the man behind the bar that they had no marsh mallows, but had the cream. I assume he was a manager of sorts as he was fiddling on a laptop the whole time. I was still charged the 50p despite not getting marsh mallows. Upon sitting down near to the bar, I could see a box full of marsh mallows next to the hot chocolate powder. I told his dad about this, so he went to the bar and asked someone else if they had marshmallows. They said yes and put some in a bowl. As his dad was putting the marsh mallows in the hot chocolate, I saw the laptop bar tender look towards him and shake his head with disgust. I ignored it as we were just happy to have what we came for. We enjoyed our drinks. As we got up to leave we got the most disgusted look accompany by obligatory stink eye from the same marsh mallow denying bar tender.

I will be returning as I won't let one employees action put me off, but not as often and will avoid when he is behind the bar. I really don't know what has to be wrong with a person to deny a 5 year old boy some marsh mallows in his hot chocolate, but hey ho. It seems this is the non-sensical world we live in with weird...

I wouldnt even give 1 star, we booked for a work meal for christmas, we rang 3 times to confirm it was for 10 of us as the reservation come up with 5. We got there and guess what the booking was for 5 people!. They did rearrange 3 small round tables for us to fit round. Which we then sat down and realised we wouldnt be able to fit all the meals around the table. So we did ask to speak to the manager about moving. She was very rude! We did then move next to the kitchen and the bar. We had to que for our drinks and asked for table service and the food menus. No one came to the table we had to shout for someone to come to us. The food was ok, Considering we booked to eat at 20:15 we didn't eat until around 22:00. We did have deserts and had another round of drinks. We then went to settle our tab, before entering the pin on the card the card machine was declining. 3 different machines used. The manager came over, not once appologising, accused us of its our card. She then stated we need another card, we said tis a business card and her replywas that we needd to use a cashpoint then. Miserable, stone faced, not once appologised, didnt attempt to resolve anything. We went and got the cash out. We did mention then that the customer service has been appauling all night. We will not be...
