Golden Siam Thai Restaurant — Restaurant in Stevenage

This was the sixth time I’ve visited The Golden Siam (Old Stevenage Town) - each occasion, never been disappointed with the authentic dishes from Thailand. So it wasn’t a surprise yesterday served an excellent Lamb Shank Panang Curry with Egg Fried Rice and a glass of Chardonnay! Also excellent service by the staff and chefs! 1st March 2023 - Once again we were treated with excellent Thai Cuisine at Golden Siam! Indeed, of the two Thai restaurants in Old Stevenage - this restaurant has become our ‘go to’ favourite point of call! Thanks to the Chef at Golden Siam and the staff for their friendly service! Yesterday (25th May) was the first time I lunched at The Golden Siam - apart from the excellent food, I was surprised that a restaurant in Old Stevenage was open! There seems to be a belief by restaurants that people of Britain only eat in the evening, so they’re closed during daytime! I’d like to warn anyone who wants to eat a take away from here and order from Just Eat to not do that ! I have had a bad experience, plus 2 friends of mine. We spent over £60 for a take away from bad communication and poor customer service from both the Thai restaurant to just eat. What the restaurant will do is say on the app that the food is delivered so they are guaranteed that they won’t lose money and that you won’t get a refund through the app. The food was cold, I’ve also reported this to the local health service because we were all unwell this morning. We were waiting over 2 hours for food! Mistake made ! We should of cancelled the order! Please don’t get into the same situation as us. Lost our money and food was disgusting! After waiting so long and not be able to re-order something else we didn’t have many options. Sala Thong is much nicer, really good service and delivery!! This restaurant was recommended to us and after reading the reviews, we decided to give it a try by ordering a takeaway.

True to the reviews, the food is amazing and tastes really nice. We tried a red Thai Curry, a stirfry dish and a pad Thai. They were all excellent. The meat is tender the sauces flavoursome and the consistency was spot on.

The price is on a high side compared to other Thai restaurants, but given the quality, it is worth the premium. If you collect the takeaway they offer 10% discount. For the 3 dishes it cost us £41. My only disappointment is for the price we paid we had to pay an extra £4 for a portion of Thai prawn crackers when most other places will offer it for free based on the amount you spend.
