A group of us visited earlier. Service not great leaving you waiting 45 mins for a set of prawn crackers before any other food arrives. Chicken sweetcorn soup basic flavour, steak rolls overpriced and no flavour, We ordered 3 x set menu A (listed £26.50 on the menu provided) the starters were very measley for 3 people including - a tiny amount of crispy seaweed, 6 Toni ribs between 3 people (2 per £26.50 menu) 1 small prawn on toast, 1 spring roll)
It was more a portion for 2 rather than 3, but equally the smallest potion I had ever seen between 3 people on a set menu.
The cheaper prawn on toast were served to my friends when they ordered the larger one’s.
I had to ask twice for prawns crackers for my son, I had to also ask 3 times for his main course. The staff seemed all over the place with not great organisation with the food coming to the table.
My wife was left nearly 10 mins waiting for her soup when we are had our soup. It was an exercise of constantly ringing the bell to repeatedly ask for food items either forgot or really delayed.
The duck course should have been half between 3 people, but was a quarter between 3 again slim lining the portion amount.
The price of a potion of plain sort noodles (nothing else) were over £7 again absolute overpriced (double what you would pay in a take away)
The mains were actually good, but 2 of the staff weren’t great either grumpy or stressed out when visiting the table with items not creating a great vibe.
The young girl was a lovely girl, but had to deal with a very awkward situation over the calculation of the bill (this is something everyone should know visiting)
The prices on the actual menu were increased overall including drinks by a whopping 10% on the final bill
A 10% service charge was then added to the overall amount for service (so that’s a service charge that doesn’t even reflect the actual advertised menu of the amounts)
You are charged £3 extra if one person orders the same main as another person even though you are effectively just ordering menu A (same main course)
I queried the bill with the manager who I must say was a very nice guy. I was directed beck to a tiny sticker at the base of the menu saying “due to unforseen costs the menu price would be increased by 10%” (not sure that is compiling with any kind of fair trading not actually informing customers about a huge 10% hike rise when booking or even when you are seated)
The menu price is advertised with a price for a reason and the restaurant cannot justify increases by saying quote “well most restaurants put their prices up this time of year”!!
Furthermore applying a £3 charge for ordering the same main on the set menu that quote states “please choose 1 main course per person” and no mention of an additional charge, but then to make matters worse not only inflating the bill 10%, but also charging 10% to the already inflated bill for a service charge.
The worst of the charges was if you ordered a take away you got 25% off banquets (so is that 25% off then add the new 10% on?)
You couldn’t make this up….
I haven’t visited this place for many years since it was Wings, but when it was Wings it was a completely different experience.
The food was average, the service not great, some of the staff grumpy, disorganisation on food delivery, charges added that are not even legit leaving a very bitter taste in your mouth overall as a customer.
I had to agree a reduced an amount in the end minus the £3 and wrong service charge, but the 10% hike remained in place upon payment.
We definitely won’t be back again on this basis with the worst point not being transparent with the charges advertised...
Read moreWe ordered a banquet take away for three people which was £75. We expected it to be this cost and previously the food has been exceptional however tonight it unfortunately fell way below our expectations. The soup was lovely however the dim sum were not great. The spring rolls were soggy and the portion of seaweed was not enough to feed one let alone three. We joked about having a teaspoon each. Then onto the duck - which was a good size for three however we were not given any hoisin sauce and did not have any in. The majority of this course was therefore not eaten. The main course of prawns was excellent and the other two courses were ok but nothing special. It’s unfortunate we won’t be going again - we pay the ‘extra’ for exceptional food however on this occasion Tangs did...
Read moreHaving been many times previously and tonight 17/2/2016, very disappointing.Manager very helpful, friendly.Too short staffed to cope with the restaurant. Too busy with Take Aways to concentrate on the customers who are and have been waiting to be served at tables. Food not up to standard. WE WILL NOT BE GOING AGAIN! JANICE,LAURENCE JONES We have been coming to this restaurant when it was Tangs, so that is how long we have been coming. The customers who are dining in the restaurant should not be left waiting for their meals while the kitchen staff have all the take away meals to...
