Hello, I wish to make a compliant about the quality of the food received today and also the bar staff (ED) who I approached about the appearance and the why in which the food was cooked and served.
I ordered the hunters chicken main dish £9.89 I believe. I normally order this dish from this pub and I never have any problems. I even recommend the establishment to friends.
I was rather surprised that within literally 4 minutes of placing the order the dish arrived on my table.
Now I understand some dish’s can be pre cooked to a degree but there is no way chicken and bacon can be cooked remotely from scratch or precooked which I wouldn’t expect here in a few minutes. The sauce in the dish was splattered and bubbles over the dish and onto the plate from being microwaved. Also the cheese and bacon were in a lump and in now way cooked fresh. The chips were rock solid but steaming hot, how this could be remotely fresh I am at a loss to figure out.
I approached ED And asked to make some comments on the dish and also ask if the dish had just been microwaved?
His response was short, abrupt and in no way hospitable which as hospitality is the name of the game took me a back slightly.
We just follow the guide cards pal was his response. No I’m sorry to hear this or I apologise. Just I’m too busy for this and go away.
I was prepared to leave it as a comment to him but when I asked for further information to make a complaint and explained his attitude should be improved drastically he just went to the other end of the bar and ignored me for ten minutes until I had to go round there and ask for the information I had asked for and also his name.
It’s there on the receipt pal was his flippant repsonce.
I’m unsure as to why this is his demeanour as I wasn’t in any way angery or feet stamping. I also tried to address his attitude which of course was ignored and shoulders shrugged at me.
I then had to ask the lady serving the food to obtain an e mail address as the number he gave me was just the bar and he thought he could answer the phone and pretend to be the GM and again ignore my now compliant.
The lady assisted and apologised but it had sadly been too many things for me to walk away and thus I am writing to you know.
I also said I will have to just leave a bad review on any sites for the establishment if this is the way he deals with comments about hospitality. Again he shrugged his shoulders and walked away.
Sadly I won’t be returning to this establishment again. If this is acceptable behaviour and the way food is prepared on a not busy day or time then I fear to see what else is acceptable at the governors...
Read moreA great little cozy and comfortable place to stay. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay on a cold and wet(oh well.....its England) couple of days on some business visit. The hotel building looked very old, however nice interiors and hosts run by family members.
The check-in process was quick and provided with enough directions to arrive at the designated rooms and the neares exists at times of emergency. The single rooms are located in that part of the building where there is no lift service leading through small narrow corridors and precarious stairs. However the short tread felt safe and secure.
The bar is a great place to spend time and gets busy at times. The bar menu drinks menu and food menu is extensive, fortunately they serve some vegetarian food too. The food is prepared fresh and is served in clean plates and cutlery. The prices are very reasonable. There are a couple of big TV screens where one can follow their favorite sport on those days of the game.
There is a huge external parking available for visitors. There is a huge green area for big barbeque gatherings or private celebrations. Wheel chair visitors would find it difficult to find their way around inside the hotel.
The rooms are a bit small but very well laid out. The bed and the furnishings are very good quality and offer a good nights sleep. The bathrooms are very clean and dry and there is provision for hot water 24hrs. The soaps, shampoo and towels are good quality and sufficient.
The only disappointment was that we could not get hot breakfast during our stay.
Great place to stay. Good environment and...
Read moreLovely pub and restaurant. I've not eaten there yet but I've stared at a few plates that have passed me and the found looks delicious and plentiful. Prices are normal for the area. Two large diet Cokes were £660.
The pub has a lovely, warm and friendly atmosphere. Staff seem very pleasant.
It's a large place so plenty of seating. Plenty of different style seating areas, too. Eg they have a few booths as well as restaurant seating and pub style seating.
The pub also has a large, concrete outdoor seating area. There is an undercover bit fir when it's raining and I'm pretty sure there are patio heaters or equivalent.
The pub is also a hotel. I haven't checked the rooms out, but I think I will have to soon, lol.
The menu is a regular pub menu. Will add more about the menu when I've studied it. I often have a starter (chicken strips with Korean bbq sauce and side order of Rosemary and salted fries, which are crispy and delicious! It costs just under a 10er. The steak and ale pie is very tasty, too. It's very filling, too. That's about £15/16 but is worth it. You shouldn't need a desert, anyway, lol.
Overall, it's a lovely place for any occasion or non-occasion. It's a place you can dress up to go or go casual to.
I definitely recommended a...
