I visited the White Hart on Friday and to be fair I have nothing but praise for the team there. They have expanded there beer garden to accommodate extra guests and they have done a good job. We booked our table and when we arrived we was told about the wait on food and shown to our table the beer garden was full there must of been around 150 people all having a chilled out evening. All the team was running around (under control) trying to make sure everyone was OK and enjoying there visit. I did feel though they was a couple of members of team short.
I feel under these tough times we have to get use to a new normal and all the people working in the hospitality trade are trying to do there best to make there businesses work for the guest.
To mention Chris Gregg's comments I feel are very harsh. It looks like there's just two pubs open in Cheadle village at the moment so everyone is naturally gonna descend on the white hart. Two days after a national lockdown and pub just reopening to then judge them so negatively while they are still trying to find a new serving style which works for both team and guest is beyond me. You sound like the pub had never shut and this was it normally operates. Like I say the beer garden was full last night and probs I'd say about 80% of people was eating and nobody seem to be dissatisfied or wanting to kick off over having to wait for food. They just looked grateful to be able to go to the pub and see friends and have a drink with a bit of food and I think you should take that into account Chris just be greatful pubs have reopened and trying to find there way in the new normal.
The team was doing all there best to make sure everyone was happy. If you wasn't you should of asked to speak to the manager whom I'm sure would of been happy to help you before you but negative reviews and disheartened...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible......... On the 2nd day out of lockdown with only a handful of people eating at what must normally be 40 % capacity we waited over 2hrs for our food. We were apologised too many times and at one point told it was 3 minutes away but 40minutes after that we were still waiting. We didn't even order anything complicated. After 2 hrs waiting we were told that various sauces were now not available and when the dishes finally arrived 2hrs and 10mins after ordering items were missing off the plates like coleslaw and the dipping sauces. By this time we had had enough. The offer of a free drink was declined as we were hungry not thirsty and it was getting too late. Would I go back again ...... No chance.
Edited to address comments by Mark Smith.. I hope your experience was much better than mine. I'm sorry if you find my comments harsh. Sometimes the truth hurts, it was a shambles. I post as I find and blaming Covid is a cop out. They have had over a year to prepare for this re opening. The service was unacceptable on every level. If your happy with waiting over 2hrs for food after being told it would be arriving much sooner and then having to eat the sub standard plate of food in the dark then great. I am not. Hopefully it was a one off and they have learnt from that night. It was not just my table that experienced the lack of...
Read morePre Booked a table. Entered the pub, waited to be seen, one staff behind the counter, no greeting, we aproached her, told her our name and booking, she just pointed and said 'I think you're down there'!! She couldn't be bothered to be honest. Found our table near a door, freezing cold, speaker blaring out above our head, mucky sticky table - the menu had to be peeled off it, the menu was grubby, sticky and food stained. Really didnt fancy eating in there so we left. Ok if you like a big screen football type of pub but not a Sunday lunch place by any means unfortunately, as other reviews and pictures of food looked nice, hence why we booked it.
Reply from pub below: Laughable.. No metion of the cant be ar$ed staff. The table was just manky - no excuses, should be right first time, not move to another table that 'might' be cleaner! The speaker above our head was the least of the problems. Cleanliness cleanliness cleanliness.. and staff that can make a little effort to be friendly would be...
