Attended for a Mother’s Day breakfast this morning, and it was an absolute shambles! We hadn’t even started walking to our table before being told we had to leave by 11 - you could have told the person booking this information on the phone instead of when we arrived as it doesn’t make it feel like a special occasion, it made us feel as if you were wanting a quick turn over to make more profit instead of providing a good experience on Mother’s Day. Secondly, why would you not offer a kids menu, especially on Mother’s Day? Or anything aimed at children? - £10 for oatcakes is absolutely crazy for kids - willow your other restaurant has unicorn butter on toast amongst others, yet you offer nothing? Whilst a member of the party was taking his son to the toilet, a staff member tried to remove his high chair as “we don’t have enough high chairs so if your not using it can we have it?” … when told several times it was being used he proceeded to ask again and explain why he needed it - the meal was pre-booked, surely it’s not hard for a host or manager to add up how many children are booked in that day to see this would be an issue? It also costs very little to purchase a chair so a business this size should have way more. Staff couldn’t advise on the menu, even though it was a simple request - “do you do bread which isn’t seeded?” After being asked multiple times it felt easier for them to say no, even though I had a toasted muffin, which was plain so they clearly did they just didn’t want to go to the effort to check. After all of the above we finally got the food, the majority of the party had ordered the traditional full English breakfasts and they were absolutely awful!! The worst (and most expensive) breakfast I think I’ve ever seen, the meat looked as if it had danced round a flame from a distance, the presentation was embarrassing, my brother had about 5 beans in a cup the rest was just bean juice and his wife was only bought half her food on the plate, they delivered her another sausage on a single plate and still forgot the bacon, but it was so poor she didn’t even ask for what was owed. After complaining the manager knocked off 10% roughly - £130 quid bill yet there was £60s worth of breakfasts had to be wrapped up as they were only fit for the dog once home! … luckily they didn’t even try the new rip off service charge 7.5% for awful service, that alone is enough to make me seek other places who don’t put this on in the...

This review is based purely off today's visit, as I would like to say first of all that in previous visits (been at least 4 or 5 times) we have had great service and the food has always been lovely. Firstly, we requested a high chair, which was not provided. Secondly, it took quite a while for someone to take our orders, so we didn't get our first course (we opted for starters) until just over an hour after we were seated. Third, the mains were placed in front of us and our server walked away very quickly, whereas when we have visited previously we have always been asked if we needed anything else, like sauces etc. 2 of our party wanted these, and we had to wait a short while to get someone's attention to request this. Perhaps the most disappointing part was the quality of the food. I ordered the chicken milanese, and this was also overdone. The crumb coating was burnt in places, and some parts were just coating, no chicken (more than would be expected over the whole portion). One membwr of the party ordered the fillet steak rare, and it was served medium. Not the worst problem, but wasn't what he ordered. My partner ordered the pan Roasted chicken & gnocchi dish, and said the chicken was overdone and dry. He also began to feel unwell soon after finishing, and has felt unwell since. I tried to be honest but fair, and I would like to stress we have had better experiences in the past, quality and service wise, and though I hope this will improve from this visit, we likely won't be...

This is a lovely restaurant with beautiful decor and a warm soft ambiance...

We had pre booked, recommended especially during this current pandemic. In any event we had a 5.30 booking on a Friday and it was quite full..

We were seated quickly, with clean tables and the staff quickly presented menus. Our waiter was lovely with a great sense of humour and gave some recommendations.

I had 3 non alcoholic mojitos, elderflower and 2 kiwi & strawberry. The kiwi and strawberry was by far my favourite but I have a sweet tooth.

To start I had the fish tempura mix with sea bass, prawns and squid.. it was nice.. a tiny bit oily but still enjoyable. We also had the crispy beef stripe and fried camembert... the camembert was fantastic with an interesting onion dip as opposed to a jam. My main was the pork belly, unfortunately it wasn't the greatest, it came with an interesting bacon and cider mash, I wasn't particularly enamoured with it... we also had the salmon skewers which were very tasty, salmon was cooked beautifully ..

Unfortunately there was no room for dessert, but they had some interesting options on the menu.

Overall was a lovely birthday meal and I think next time I would definitely go for the dirty burger next time as it comes recommended...

Would definitely come here again if I am ever in Stoke. Nice for families, couples, birthdays,...

The atomsphere was mild (which is okay for me, maybe not for others). There was music quietly playing in the background and the general level of noise was lovely. You could easily hold a conversation at a normal level. Outdoor seating is available. Inside, the lighting is dime, however most if not all of the dining area have massive glass windows facing them, allowing a vast amount of light to come in and brighten the room, making it look more spacious. The staff were generally very polite and came over a few times to check to see if everything was okay, which is nice to see. Bear in mind it was a quite evening so wouldn't know if this is still obtainable during busier evenings. The food was great and well presented (as you can see via the pictures). I did have a bit of a problem with my meal in which the paper underneath my food started to break up and I accidentally started to consume it. Now I don't know if this is an error on my half or whether this incident could be a thing that The Orange Tree Bar need to be made aware of. I ended up not bringing it up with the staff. Hopefully they will be aware of it by reading this lengthy review. Plus any possible future diners will also be aware of it too. Overall it was a fantastic experience and I would go and dine there again. If I could I would give 4.5⭐️

First visit here, was surprised to see the restaurant bursting at the seams for a Thursday evening. Our table was booked for 7pm, but we had to wait half an hour. The bar area gets packed very quickly so it can be a bit awkward having to squeeze to let people past. However the service was friendly and prompt despite how busy the place was. It is probably sink or swim for workers here and they certainly deal with it well. The two courses for £22 is decent value, the chicken tenders were excellent. The burger for a main was pink in the middle (perfect), with a nice cheese sauce and bacon on. My only complaint was it was a little over salty, but the burger size was decent. The onion rings as a side are huge, you only need a portion to share really. This is the first pub I've been in serving the new version of Moretti with the salt in, which is a very smooth pint, but pricey at £6.50. They do have Heineken 0% on draft which is £5, always nice to have a zero beer on draft. The ambience is nice but it can get loud especially I imagine being close to Christmas. The decorations looked great and it had a cosy feeling. Another excellent Paragon venue!
