What a disappointment! We booked a table weeks ago for 7pm, when we arrived our table wasn't ready so we had a drink in the bar which was fine. We got shown our table around 15-20mins later, the table was nice but there were spot lights above the table that were far too bright to the point we had to try to move them because they were causing discomfort. The table next to us had to do the same so this is a common issue by the looks of it. We waited and ordered drinks which eventually arrived after a considerable amount of time. When we were ready to order food I informed the waiter i had food allergies and he said he would check my order on the allergen list on the tablet. I asked him if he could check something with the kitchen for me which he did, when he came back I asked if I could order a starter, at this point I actually got told off!! I was told if I wanted a starter I should of told him to start with "now he was going to have to start again!" We ordered our meal and waited and waited and waited, our starters turned up after an hour, 2 of them were OK but 1 was supposed to be chicken.. hmmmm it was more like processed chicken nuggets in a sauce, but we were so hungry by this point we just ate it, we then waited and waited some more, people were complaining all around us and getting offered nothing more than "well we are busy" tables with children were leaving because after waiting 2hours for their food they gave up, we then listened to a waiter moan to another table that tpeople were leaving, very unprofessional. Our main course arrived after another 1 and a half hours, the two other people in my group had eaten half of their meals before mine arrived. The food was ok at best, small portions massively over priced and with the wait it was just a disaster. The excuse of we are busy is not acceptable in my opinion, it comes down to poor management, there were alot of serving staff about, so it's clearly an issue in the kitchen. You need to look at the abilities of your kitchen staff and book the number of tables that they can manage and no more because...
Read moreWe went for lunch on our son’s 18th birthday. All of the burgers were lovely and the ribs were fantastic. Fish disappointing. Had it at miller carter a few years ago and it was lovely chunky white fish with very crispy delicious batter. This was fairly thin fish with a very strong fish taste which I associate with not as fresh as could be in just a disappointing thin batter that was only crispy in places. I really wish I had ordered something else. Our server Maisey was fantastic. Really lovely and efficient. All staff were great. It felt very dingy where we were sat and not very bright like other places which was probably my fault as I asked if maybe a round table as I didn’t know the layouts and didn’t want a small square table with a chair on the end but wish we were sat somewhere else as felt very isolated and in the dark which wouldn’t want to be in the dark for lunch in the day. I didn’t complain about the fish not being very nice or where we were sat (I normally would) as it was a birthday and didn’t want to say anything negative to put a dampener on the meal and everyone else was enjoying theirs. They brought over a small chocolate cake bite with cream for our son as it was his birthday which was lovely of them. We were asked when we sat if we wanted water for the table and we said yes. We also asked for more water after so another bottle was brought but I had no idea we had to pay for it. Or pay so much for it. We expected just tap water when we were first asked. However surprised when saw the charge of £9.60 for water on the bill, which didn’t matter but it would have been nice to understand that a bottle of water cost £4.80! All in all though it was a good experience and staff friendly and pleasant but I certainly would not ever order fish again. Ribs were...
Read moreI booked a meal here to celebrate a friend's birthday and in all honesty, I wish I hadn't. When we first arrived at 7pm they stated that they were busy and waiting for tables to clear, so sent us to the bar to wait. Which is fine, it happens. After about 15 mins we were called through and seated in the restaurant. Whilst sitting and choosing food and drinks we found that the lights above the table were troublesome (shining into our eyes) so we attempted to move them a little to stop blinding us. One of my party has allergies and asked a few questions about the food, but it was evident that it wasn't a task that the waiter enjoyed doing. As after a question was asked he hurried off to the kitchen to get an answer and then seemed exasperated when she asked another question upon his return, stating he had to start over on the tablet, my friend felt as though she did wrong, just for asking questions. After ordering food and drinks we waited... Ages. Drinks arrived and they were fine. It was around 8.15pm that we received our starters and were quite nice. Then we waited again... people around us were getting bored of waiting and some even left without having eaten. Our main courses arrived at 9.20pm a full 2 hours since arriving at our table and I have to say the seabass was a little dry, the burger was okay and the steak was alright for medium rare but needed a bit more sear to it and less gristle on the edge. We ate the food as we were very very hungry by this stage. We overheard one of the waiters complaining with a customer about another table, which really didn't sit right at all.
If we had been informed that there was a wait in the kitchen it wouldn't have felt so chaotic. But it has put me off coming back as I am unsure if the kitchen is able to cope with...
