The Black Horse Inn — Restaurant in Stratford-on-Avon

This is by far the worst pubs I have been in. Not only is the food mediocre but the hospitality is beyond questionable. We have two young children and we were told that children are not welcome on the premises after 20:00. This is not published either on their website or in the pub itself. We were hurried to finish our food and drinks and effectively asked to leave. The bar man stressed this was not personal due to the rugby players due to enter their establishment in the coming hour. Yet I went to watch the rugby match which finished 5 hours prior…. Coincidence. Yet they were happy to take money off me and my family all afternoon for drinks etc but when approaching 8pm my children were all of a sudden causing unrest and being disruptive. This is a place I will not be returning to and would highly recommend people with children to avoid. You will be ushered out as soon as 8pm is looming closer. Absolutely revolting behaviour by the staff. You should be utterly ashamed of yourselves....

Got a takeaway whilst on a short holiday in Shipston and it was grossly sub-par. I ordered the Veggie Spring Rolls and Veggie Pad Thai which had tofu and egg. There were 3 bits of egg and 2 small slivers of tofu in the Pad Thai which itself only tasted of sugar and a hint of salt and the bland spring rolls were the cheap frozen ones you could get in Iceland. I was really disappointed as this restaurant was recommended to me a few times. A very cheap imitation of Thai food that needn’t be tried by anyone who has had good Thai food. The only reason I’ve given the place 2 stars is because of the beautiful thatched building It’s located in and the lovely service I received. The food itself would get 1 star. I’m sure the place functions well as a pub, but definitely not a good...

Beautiful thatched roof pub. Full of locals and welcoming to newcomers nonetheless. Massive functional garden out the back which was great for the proms and pub and garden are dog friendly.

Best of all is the food. Wow. For a takeaway there's a bit of a premium but it's worth it. We ordered to death during covid and still love it. These guys rescued us from a huge disappointment at the weekend after our food failed yo arrive at another rsturant.
