Hobbs house bakery, hidden behind the war memorial in Nailsworth is well worth a visit.
Accepts cash and card
Eat in or takeout (takeout is cheaper)
Parking is available VERY close by that you will have to take a tiny walk.
Disabled wheelchair access is ok as long as you're not in a wide wheelchair.
As you walk in your greeted with a massive selection of freshly baked cakes as smartly dressed kitchen staff are busy making food in the back which offers up a nice atmosphere as a first impression.
Food all Cooked/prepared in house, you can have a relaxing tea and cakes, or quickly pop in on a lunch break to grab a sandwich or light snack.
Food & drinks taste fantastic some & only some items are a little overpriced (some prices you can see in the photos I provided) is mostly made up by the excellent atmosphere and quality of the experience.
I chose to sit outside on the terrace as there was a Pleasant view of lower Nailsworth, and overlooking Nailsworth stream, however no ducks were there today, but I did get the wonderful scent in the air of cake cooking from inside.
I could not give this place 5 Stars however there were a few small issues that bothered me.
One was as getting stung by a wasp, I wouldn't normally blame the establishment. But there were a good half dozen of these bothersome insects around number of dishes & sweet drink cups on the terrace that staff ignored, while I am sure had I asked them to remove them they would have however I'd already been stung by that point, oh well...
On the staff they were polite nice and helpful but not "lovely", nice is absolutely fine but just nice isn't enough to get 5 star from me but definitely a VERY solid 4 stars.
Overall however if your looking for some tasty meals & snacks in a very quintessentially British "coffee shop" You can't go far wrong, while are cheaper options available albeit not as Charming I&'ll definitely be...
Read moreI have loved Hobbs House in past years, but, as in past times, I visited today specifically to grab a birthday bite. It was before 1pm, but there was little choice of food on offer. The person serving seemed to be of the school of give me your order but know that you are not interesting enough for ne to anything but give you essential information. My daughter and I opted for a breakfast roll, thinking it would have egg, bacon, sausage, and mushroom. After a fair wait, the food arrived. We couldn't eat upstairs in the seating area as it was unavailable - no reason given, so we took the food back to the car. When we opened the bag, both were a bit surprised to find quite dried up pieces of bacon in a plain white bap/roll. There was no egg nor sausage, and neither were there mushrooms. Others in our small party, being vegetarians, originally opted for halloumi burger only to be told it wasn't available. Appreciating they had been busy, I don't want to labour the point, but it would have been better to wipe it off the blackboard. The vegetarians had a vegetarian roll, which, to be fair, looked pretty good. Sadly, I have to say I was really disappointed and felt a bit disinclined to visit again. To balance things out, I suspect I chose a really bad day to visit but you don't get to choose your birthday, just the place to celebrate...
