The Lodge — Restaurant in Sunderland

What a rude unwelcoming lady. Had previously called at this coffee shop with my husband and had a lovely lunch in the garden. The food and the staff were lovely on that occasion. I had recommended it to my mother so as she had a hospital appointment today I thought this would be the ideal place to take her for lunch afterwards. The first room through the door was cordoned off so we proceeded through into the kitchen and counter area. I was waiting at the designated spot for a table but my mother, not having visited before and not knowing the system had wandered towards the second room to see if there was a table. I called her back and said we needed to wait to be seated. At this point a lady yelled from the kitchen in a most unpleasant manner that we needed to wait so they could see who was there. I responded that that was exactly what i was doing! Her attitude was terrible and quite unnecessary, I don't think that she is suited to a customer service role. As it happened they were full but tbh I don't think we would have stayed even if they weren't! This experience has ruined my initial good impression of this establishment and I will not visit again. There are plenty of lovely coffee shops in the area such as Penshaw and Elmtree and will give them my custom in future. I do not wish to be yelled at by anyone supposedly providing me with a service and I certainly do not appreciate anyone yelling at my deaf...

A pleasant coffee shop , with very friendly staff, we ordered scones and coffees , whilst the scones were delicious, the coffees were not , ordered a Latte and a flat white , apart from one being served in a glass cup , the only difference was price , both were on the weak side, both were tasteless and made with scorched milk , neither drinks resembled what they were supposed to be , maybe more training needed for the Barista , wouldn't return for this...

I cannot give review for food and service as we just came in to look fpr specific plant tree. The atmosphere is okay. We will definitely come back sometime to try thier café and by that time, I can give an updated review for foods, drinks...
