Went for food last week with some visiting family, who had made a long drive by car and we decided to stay local. The place was about half full and the bar area was quite busy, so we found a table and ordered off the app.
The app itself isn't the best, and so while two of us ordered food, the others went to get drinks at the bar.
We went for pizzas as we had heard they were quite good, but unfortunately at the end of a long winded ordering g procedure, each pizza in turn was unavailable when we checked out. The app should probably prevent people from attempting to order stuff that is unavailable, but that's an issue for the developers and not the pub itself.
We settled in small plates of picky food, waffle fries, mozzarella sticks etc, and placed our order at 19.05. The email confirms this time.
At 20.10, after asking where our food was after a 30 minute wait previously, our food turned up. As you can imagine, it was warm at best, but after waiting an hour, we didn't dare send it back as the pub might have closed before it returned.
Just as our food arrived, the pub quiz started, and a number of complimentary pizzas started being delivered to tables with people sat doing the quiz. People who turned up after us but must be regulars.
This was food showing as unavailable to diners, and made it feel our custom wasn't appreciated.
We've tried eating at the Chesters twice this summer, and had problems both times, and safe to say I won't be return with my custom a third time. The drinks are decent, but the app, and service is pretty terrible, with long wait times and mediocre,...
ย ย ย Read moreToday was the first time i have been back to the chesterโs in at least 6 month disappointment is a understatement. This was the only place in my surrounding area i would actually eat in apart from the town centre, it used to be online with my own home cooked food not any more. The mash is just buttered smash what was hard underneath, frozen veg (carrots and broccoli)what tasted earthy and peas were rock hard, meat was really chewy and gravy was really bland and just tasted like graduals. The 3 small roasties and the massive pudding on the other hand were nice but ยฃ10 for a pudding and 3 small roasties.I ate the meat and 8 carrots as i was hungry but wonโt be raving to others about how nice your dinners are any more sorry. The Covid 19 procedures that are in place are very good and canโt be faulted so well done for that. Reply to yours; If you have read my review you will of read that i have said "The Covid19 procedures that are in place are very good and cant be faulted". The problem was how down hill your food has gone ,it used to be fresh food now its all frozen apart from the Roasties and Yorkshire Pudding what were very nice which i did state. What are you saying because you have saftey procedures in place you have to skip on the quality of you food? I dont think that i have stated anything unreasonable on my review as i have just told the truth. Maybe go back to using fresh veg and potatos people might find it worth there money. Also call people by there full name its very...
ย ย ย Read moreAbsolute rubbish.Visited today reasonably busy were told 1st do covid venue on app trouble was signal down there is rubbish and it took an age gave up and signed in. I was then told it would be at least a 15 minute wait for drinks and we should use the pub app to order it's on the menu she said. Now issue is samsung s7 does not have a qr scanner and there was no name for the app on the menu so we couldn't get it from Google store. Downloaded the qr app after an age due to bad wifi then eventually downloaded the pub app. Then whilst navigating the app some fella sits at the next table with 3 dogs!! SO I HAD A CHOICE WE HAD WAITED 20 MINUTES WITH NO SERVICE OR DRINKS I COULD CHOOSE BETWEEN CORONAVIRUS OR DOG FLEAS AND MANGE OR wait for God knows how much longer to get our drinks . We chose to leave this absolute joke of a place. They will blame as always carona but the real reason is nog enough staff!!!, when you sign in you should be able to order drinks then not wait an age dog sitting. Hospitality industry ?? You having a laugh? No wonder these places lose money the place is a joke ,disorganised and not fit for purpose .Three other tables got up and left who had been there before us as they had had no drinks or food orders. This pub deserves to close and I for one ain't got no sympathy if they do.In short avoid at all costs go somewhere where you can actually order never mind consume also dogs and my...
