Yet again a good night ruined due to being too busy. The invasion of kids around 11pm from the kindergarten (The Grapes) up the road is common on a Friday and Saturday night, this Saturday was just too much with an army of these kids arriving well drunk. The atmosphere took a nose dive as it got more and more rowdy. It looked and sounded like a fight outside so we all decided enough was enough and left. Its great to see a busy pub, especially one with live music which can be quite good - the landlord has certainly done a good job re-inventing the place. However being crammed, bumped and pushed and also trying to get served just leads to a poor night out. Not sure why the landlord lets it happen - greed perhaps - but it certainly doesnt do their reputation...

My son and his friends went here last night for a drink after one of his friends turned 18 last week . The landlord came over to them swearing and was extremely rude and aggressive asking for ID .. one didn’t have ID and they were asked to leave very abruptly and abusively and the landlord even grabbed a pint off the boy who had turned 18 last week and had his ID on him ( which he had shown ) If the situation had been handled differently and they’d have been asked to leave nicely then I wouldn’t hesitate in going to this pub but the landlord clearly doesn’t have any people skills or manners and is obviously above his station after what he was saying to the lads !..
