I cannot recommend this for people with children.

Terrible service, understaffed, overpriced, loud people shouting expletives and the food order never arrived. This place is for young drinkers.

I came following a walk with my 14 year old daughter in the nearby countryside because she said that she would like some food and a drink, so we waited 20 minutes whilst the one person working the bar serverd just three couples ahead of us.

I doubled our drinks because I didn't want to come back to the bar to wait again. The barman asked where we were sat and I explained to him that I didn't know because I was there with only my 14 year old daughter and I didn't want to leave her alone at a table whilst I waited in the queue, but explained that I would come back and let him know the table number once we found one. This is reason one why you shouldn't being kids here. Clearly not catering for single parents with a child.

We bought four j20's and a couple of bowls of chips but the bar man did not put the food order through, but didn't make this clear and I thought he had (on account of the price). I went outside, found the only available table then returned to the bar to let them know the number.

The barman explain that he had not taken the order and another girl said she would take the order, but then continued to make drinks for another ten minutes before doing so and taking further payment (they're good at taking payment). As expected, when I returned to the take my daughter mood was one of anxiety at being left in a loud place full of shoulting young adults, but I asked her to be patient and we drank whilst I tried to calm her nerves.

An hour later, no food had arrived and so we left, having paid Β£23 for two soft drinks, two wasted soft drinks, no food, and a miserable time. I didn't ask for any refund or complain to the staff because there was still a huge queue at the bar and I doubt the staff would have cared much.

I don't totally blame the staff, as in my experiance, unhelpful staff usually just hate their bad job. They're are probably so useless because they are over-worked given there were only a few there on a busy early evening.

This isn't the pub it once was. It's now a late teen/early 20's drinking hole now with lots of shouting and obcenities.

It's not the worst place I have been to but it is down there as a place I don't want to go to again. If you have children or are looking for somewhere to eat and drink after a walk, then I think you shouldn't either.

BTW: The view isn't as good as some reviews indicate. There are plenty better and prettier locations in the peaks, without rubbish strewn everywhere, and where you might actually get served.

I bought some kebabs on the way home and we really enjoyed them. I wish I had thought of that in the...

So I have always wanted to eat at the Hare and Hounds on Werneth Low after reading the amazing reviews the beautiful setting and the most amazing views for Miles around.

So my Wife had been doing the Night shift in Hyde and when I picked her up I asked if she fancied a Sunday Lunch and she said Yes so off to The Hare and Hounds we Went and we received a lovely warm welcome and we didn't book(I would recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment) and luckily Enough they had space for us and seated us in the restaurant.

To drink my Wife ordered a glass of Cabernet Sauvigion(Red wine)🍷 and I asked if they had IPA/Craft lagers and they had one called Level head so I ordered a pint, Short time later the waitress arrived with our drinks and a complimentary warm homemade bread 🍞 with Garlic and herbs butter 🧈.

To start we ordered the Sharing Cheese πŸ§€ platter which was oven baked Camenbert cheese with Rosemary and Garlic which came with a selection of rustic breads served with Garlic and herb butter, Piccalilli and Branston pickle, The portion was huge and the Cheese was amazing rich and oozing the breads and butter, Piccalilli and Pickle really complimented the Cheese.

For mains we both ordered for the 7 hour slow cooked Beef rib which was served with carrots πŸ₯•, Parsnips, Cabbage, Side of gravy and a huge home made Yorkshire pudding and we ordered a side order of Red cabbage and Cauliflower Cheese, The food was very presented and tasted absolutely delicious, The Beef literally fell apart and was tasty and tasted amazing and the beef was very well complimented by the seasonal vegetables and side orders, We cleaned our plates and couldn't eat another thing so settled our bill and headed into the bar area for a drink and look out at the stunning views.

Our waiter was called Mike and he was fantastic polite, friendly and very attentive and big shout to the Chef πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³ Steve who's food was exquisite.

Honestly we knew the Hare and Hounds was going to be good but wow the setting, the service, the food, the drink were all 5β˜†

Last night we went to The Hare & Hounds for Burns night 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿πŸ₯ƒ I haven't been there in so long and didn't expect much to be honest.

I was so wrong! The 4 course Burns meal was exceptional πŸ‘Œ They had ran out of Venison, which was the 3rd course option and allowed us to pick anything off the main menu πŸ₯°

We had for starters, crispy pheasant with hot honey and crab and avocado salad. The pheasant was exceptional, the flavours in both starters was amazing.

Our 2nd course was the beautiful haggis, neeps and tatties πŸ‘ Absolutely a flavour sensation. Chef cooked the haggis to perfection and he offered a vegan option πŸ‘

The mains πŸ˜‹ We went for sea bass with seared scallops. We were in heaven, cooked to perfection and simply delicous.

Desserts, Cranachan Sunday and it was the only let down of the full meal. We let it go as we tucked onto my chocolate torte and ice cream and were so stuffed at this point πŸ₯° I also ordered the whiskey and ginger and Glenfiddick buck as my bestie loves a good whiskey. All I can say, I ordered her more and she loved them πŸ₯ƒπŸ΄σ §σ ’󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I asked our lovely servers, who were awsome by the way. To send on our compliment to the chef and wanted to buy him a drink as appreciated his food so much. All both πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³ wanted was an honest review, and here it is πŸ™Œβ€οΈ

I will certainly be booking again for the main menu very soon.

I didn't even get lots of food pics as we just really enjoyed the experience of eating great food on Burns night...

It was a meal to celebrate my daughters graduation and so she chose the venue. Cannot fault the location it’s high up on Werner Low with view for miles. People go up there to watch the sunsets. The table had an β€˜I’m clean’ stand on but was sticky from previous guests. Staff seemed friendly but the food was not what we expected at all. That being in a negative way. Two of us had starters that were mushrooms on a sourdough crumpet- I swear it tasted like some Mushrooms in a minimal sauce on a raw standard crumpet. I’ve never eat a raw crumpet and never will after this. Crumpets should have some toasting to them. My wife had the Sea base and the skin was not crisped at all and was greasy and slimy- she took the skin off and ate the rest. My daughter had the vegan burger which she left half as is was all dry and crumbled as she tried to eat it. I didn’t have my dessert but two in our party did, one of the party asked for extra custard cans were given one small jug of custard with a small amount of lukewarm custard in and a large gravy boat with COLD custard in, It completely baffled us as to why they would serve cold custard. I wouldn’t return there again for food but maybe that area with the dogs because of its beautiful location.
